Default return postage from Japan for ttm

Does anyone know what kind of stamp I need to put on an envelope for getting my ttm autograph back from Japan? Am I able to use the forever international stamp on envelopes going both ways?

No. I don't understand the common misconception that American postage works when sending from another country just because it says "Global" on the stamp.

Use a Global Forever to send it there. Then, you need Japanese postage. 110 Yen will be fine for a few cards in a PWE.

Where can I buy Japanese postage stamps? Do they sell them at my local Post Office?

In my other hobby, Ham Radio, we typically throw a couple of green backs into the envelope to help with return postage. Tends to be the international way to get the recipient to purchase the return postage and defray costs on their end.

For Japan, $2 is not an unreasonable amount to include in the mailing.

I sent some in the past and did this; I think I just put a $5 bill in them (they were NES Game Cartridges, so more than the standard ounce). Once upon a time, there were something called "International Reply Coupons" that could be traded for an International 1 Oz Stamp from just about every country but I don't think they make them anymore (may be worth an ask at your local though to double check)

IRC’s are no longer offered by the post office. They stopped this service a number of years ago. I used them exclusively for QSL cards a long time ago and they worked great. But now with forever stamps and other options, they just were no longer practical anymore. Even Air Mail is no longer a thing. Just all general mailings between countries now. But, if you have any Air Mail Stamps hanging around, like I did. You can use them for domestic postage now. Which is a good thing.

Cheers

You can try with cash, but I have better luck when using the proper country's postage in the correct denomination. It creates less work for the person from whom you are already asking to do you a favor.

eBay for stamps. Japanese are common. Just comparison shop.
