Default Selling a collection

There have been several threads on how to sell and who to sell to. I just recently sold a small part of my collection to Just Collect (John Palomares). I spoke in length with both Baseball Card Market and Greg Morris. I felt most comfortable with Just Collect because there was no pressure to sell and I was most satisfied with our agreed upon price. I selected the cards I wanted to sell and John paid for the shipping and insurance to his address for assessment. Had I opted not to sell, they would have returned whatever I didn't sell, again at his cost. He's a good guy; one you can trust.
Baseball Card Market were very knowledgeable and easy to talk to, but I got a sense they are wanting to only buy large collections. They were willing to come to my home and make an offer, but my fear was that I would feel pressure to sell more of my collection than I wanted to.
Finally, GM is a business I've bought many cards from but they are in the consignment business (you get 75% of the sale price). Their consignment agreement was weird. Per the agreement they only accepted Ex or better cards from the 1960 and forward (I believe I'm correct on the year); lately I've become quite disenchanted with the whole card grading business. We used to call a card with no creases, decent centering and maybe a soft corner EX. Now, you're lucky if it's graded VG. While I've been generally pleased with cards I have purchased from GM in the past, his requirement that I only send him EX cards (virtually all the cards I sold were raw) was too much for me.
Feel free to PM me if you want more specifics on any of my discussions with these potential buyers.

Thank you, Richard. Your 'mostly raw' and 'yesterday's EX is today's VG' observations ring true for most of my stuff, and for a bunch of the folks on Net54. Eventually, most of us will follow your footsteps.
