Default 2023 National Pickups

This is probably some kind of advertising piece. I am guessing circa 1880s. I like the $3.00 printed on it. Maybe someone will know more...It's about "3 x "4 1/2. It's on fairly heavy paper stock.

Only picked these two up. I was also looking for a 1984 Topps Mattingly in PSA 10 but was unable to locate one.

Nice pick ups Leon and props for putting on the Net54 meet up. Also, nice to see an upgrade from the famous Leon quarter to a half dollar.

I sorted cards in my hotel room before shuttle to ORD. I recently started pre ‘80s OPC hockey and bought them by the pound (well 3 for $1) also bought a hoard of 1979 Topps Incredible Hulk stickers (so if anyone needs a sticker or two for their sets just message me). I did have to come off my wallet for the card front and center 1935 National Chicle football Bronco Nagurski.

Congrats Justin on the Plow's Candy Dahlen...it looks a lot like mine (my type card for the set). I have seen a few Dahlen's over the years with this similar paper loss on front. It seems like at one time there was a stack of his card that got wet and stuck to each other.

Perhaps the added paper on the back of my card matches the paper loss on yours...or visa versa?

Default My National Experience

I skipped the National this year where I know I would have bought 10-20 items I may not be in love with a year later and got this pc grail and true Mantle rookie last night.

Maybe it's the first commercial baseball card game ever produced?? Wouldn't that be neat!! Probably not though, but would be interested in finding out what it is when you learn more!

Pretty happy with these pickups. Had a great time at the show (minus the oppressive heat in the convention center), and the Net54 event was a lot of fun.

Having the NSCC in my backyard means I'm HIGHLY biased when it comes to debating over the annual location . It would kill me to miss the show but I made it Wed. at doors. I'm happy to have picked this up from fellow Net54er Bill Brodhead.

Brian, that really does look like they could match up. Too bad we can't scrape that extra paper off your back and put it back on my front!

Slim pickings for me here’s my only pickup related to Clemente and the 1971 Pirates. It will pair well with my autographed Dapper Dan program and ticket.

Biggest NSCC hit, this Jackie finished off my 1956 Topps grey back variations. Clean for its grade and chipped down its price a bit ($325 sticker to $310 paid). First saw a 1956 Jackie about 25 years ago and it helped me fall in love with what continues to be my favorite set.

Default Mantle

I've always wanted a 52 Topps Mantle and I felt this example displayed better than the grade. There is some light tape residue along the top border and it has a diamond cut, but no creases and pretty nice corners. I had an extra '33 Sport Kings Ruth and used that as trade bait.

That looks lovely to me - I love cards with tape because I don't mind it all and it cuts down the price a lot - congrats.

Awesome pickup Matt, and great meeting you at the Natty! That's a killer Mantle and looks infinitely nicer than a typical 1.5

I collect only N172 Old Judge cards that show players as playing for Washington, and I'm striving to obtain one card of every such player (I also include 2-player cards). Having picked up the card below at the National, these are the five I still need together with the pose #s known for Washington:

Individual player cards:
#114-2 Tom Daly.
#244-4 Arthur "Cutrate" Irwin.
#329-4 John Morrill.
#506-1, 2, & 4 Sam "Medoc" Wise.

2-player card:
#350-6 O'Brien & Irwin.
