Does anybody have information on someone who will look at a T206 card that has been graded by SGC or Beckett and who can advise on whether it makes sense to regrade with PSA, whether any of the print marks would be scrutinized by PSA differently, etc.? Have a card with a small mark in the upper right hand corner that I have not seen on similar examples and worried
what PSA will think. i prefer having all my cards PSA graded, not trying to arbitrage etc. thanks! |

Welcome to the board. While I am far, far from, an expert on grading, or on tobacco cards, there are many here, who are well versed on both. I'm sure if you posted high quality scans/ mages of the cards, and asked for opinions, someone would chime in and be able to answer your question. Hope you have a nice day. - James

It depends, usually PSA isn't too harsh on marks that occurred during the printing process and sometimes they miss the ones that were post printing marks like the logo that someone added to this Nicholls.

Hi- welcome to net54! Your post will invite many differing opinions. Here is
my 2 cents' worth: 1) If you want all of your cards to be graded by PSA, you seem destined to fulfill your own prophecy. 2) Specifically with regard to disparities in T206 grading between PSA and SGC, I lack the faith some have in PSA to grade properly. Again, for those who can't wait to unleash, I am referring ONLY to T206 grading. PSA is far too "qualifier happy", a perfect example of which is their "MC" qualifier when a player name is missing 1/16 of an inch on the bottom portion. 3) If you think the specific card in question has been graded properly, I would definitely not crack and resubmit with the expectation that PSA will somehow do it "better", meaning in your case give a higher grade. If anything, they are more likely to disappoint you- again, with specific regard to T206. It's a crapshoot you have to pay for and flatly hope they will accommodate you so, if SGC grade is proper, it would be prudent to stay put since it's slabbed already and correct. 4) Depending on the card, which of course we don't know, perhaps you could find a member with the equivalent PSA version and seek a trade?? Post scans of the card in this thread and many will be happy to weigh in.
