Default Domingo German Throws Perfect Game

Domingo German today threw a perfect game against the Oakland A’s in an 11-0 Yankee win. Unfortunately, it will not count in MLB records because of a rule that states that any perfect game must be thrown against a major league team.

Congrats to him. He must have the weirdest path to a perfect game. His last start he gave up 8 earned runs in 3-1/3rd inning, and the start previous to that he gave up 7 earned runs in 2 innings.

Baseball is a funny sport.

It was an amazing performance and even more impressive to me is that he pitched 99 pitches to do it.
Sad that less than $13k people saw it live.

First since 2012 and 4th by a Yankee Pitcher I believe

Default Perfect game

An incredible feat, the quality of the MLB opponent is irrelevant. Well done!

What's more amazing is that the Yankees (team batting average before last night .228) actually got some hits with runners in scoring position! 🤣

Remember when you could have saved your ticket stub from such a historic event?

A lot of people who bought those Larson / Cone / Wells balls will have some homework to do now.

I woke my son up for the 9th inning. He's a huge Yankees fan, and it was cool to watch the end with him.

All 4 Yankees "perfect game" pitchers- first names start with "D".

That is kind of crazy! All 4 with "D" starting their first name......

Congrats and agree to an earlier post.....doesn't matter who they were playing....perfect games are tough / rare......

He'll always have a place at least. Like Phillip Humber. Can't complete your perfect game collection without him.

Well, yeah, I agree the worst time to buy anything is right after the event. I can't explain the prices paid but I do understand the interest.

A part of me is obviously very surprised German pitched a perfect game, while another part of me is like…of course. Of course Domingo German pitches a perfect game. Strange pitcher, strange career.

He was never a highly touted prospect. Yanks have had a million reasons to jettison him over the years, both for on field stuff and off, and yet he always says the right stuff, is always contrite, and shows just enough talent for them to want to keep him around.

He’s a high ceiling, very low floor type of pitcher.

Never really been a guy you want to put into a high leverage or pressure situation. His WHIP has always been very respectable, but his ERA rarely reflects it, because he tends to give up lots of HRs with guys on base.

He will look like Tom Seaver in mid-season games that don’t mean a whole lot, against lower level teams, and then will fall apart the second things get just a little more stressful. There’s a reason why he’s been on the Yanks for 7 years, yet only has 1 inning pitched in the Postseason.

Happy for him and the Yanks though. Saw Rizzo made at least a couple really nice plays at 1st base to preserve the Perfect game. Wish good 1st basemen would get more credit then DH’s when it comes to calculating WAR.
