Are the players pictured on T3 cards #43, 44, 46 and 49 merely generic or can they be identified as actual players from photos upon which the Turkey Red paintings were based?

I don't know, but here is a visual guide to those 4 cards from the Old Cardboard website. The sliding Brooklyn player in the #43 Out at Third does look familiar, but I can't quite place him.

Is "napping" Hal Chase and Dick Egan or Paskert. Just a guess. I get in trouble sometimes when I wander away and answer questions about sets I don't collect.
Safe at third. Leach.

If you told me the Giants runner in ‘Safe at Third’ was Bugs Raymond, it wouldn’t surprise me.

Looks to me like Bescher and Merkle on "Napping".

Cool post. I bet the real photos exist, somewhere. No chance they are truly anonymous.

The Brown Bros. archive, credited on the front of this photo, has been sold off at auction piece by piece over the last couple years and is still going. Many of the items have written notes on the back with identification for the original archive. Perhaps worth a few emails to see if the original of this photo was in the collection still and is identified.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...arbeja01.shtml If it is Barbeau, this narrows the photo down to 1909 as that was his only year with the Pirates. Also, I think all four cards have at least one NY Giants player. EDIT: The Giants baserunner COULD BE Larry Doyle. Something about the ears and nose. But it's a tough ID for sure. https://www.baseball-reference.com/p...oylela01.shtml

Jap Barbeau is the Pirates player #46 Safe At Third
He was their starting 3rd baseman in 1909

#49 A Close Play At Second looks like Cozy Dolan or maybe Dick Egan (long shot) as the Reds player
