Hi Everyone does anyone know the rarity of each Type 2 Eddie Collins? In regard to the three variations? Prices seem all over for each.
Thanks! |

Generally speaking (and you might know this) the Type 2s are going to be the more common. I am sure there are a few examples of super rare type 2s, but generally it's probably type 2 as most common, then type 3 and then type 1 (least common). Some variants in the sets are also more scarce.

I took the OP to mean which of the T213-2 Eddie Collins is the scarcest. Going from memory (although I took a quick look at the pop reports), I believe the version with no "A" on uniform is the toughest.
IMO the 1916 print run of T213-2s is the most difficult, but I will defer to those who chase the set, as I have not pursued it in some time. Collins played for Philly in 1914 and then Chicago. The first Collins-Chicago card still had his "A's" logo showing, which points to 1915, and then it was airbrushed out, probably in 1916.

I hold 3 of the Collins T214's, which includes the airbrush Chicago and the O/P. I bought them as a group so can't say which is the most rare or expensive. But would guess it must be the O/P.

I agree with Todd that the No A Collins is the tougher of the two in my experience...Jerry

Here are the combined pops from PSA, SGC and Beckett(as best as I could read it)
T213-2 1914 Collins Phila A.... 27 cards T213-2 1915 Collins Chi A....... 27 cards T213-2 1916 Collins Chi no A.... 13 cards T213-3 1919 Collins Chi no A.... 11 fact 3 and 4 fact 8 Here are all 4 cards. As you can see, 2 are raw. There are still raw cards out there. Agree with Todd, that the airbrushed type 2 card was released in 1916, the toughest year to find.

I completed the set and can confirm the Chicago no-A is far tougher than the others.

Chicago No-A is toughest, but Chicago-A is very difficult as well and much harder than Philadelphia.

Andy, I remember when you had about 6 cards to go 20 or so years ago. I remember you said Donlin NY was hard to find, I agree, but it still has no premium over the popular stats card..
That was before pop-reports, which now give us relative scarcities, if not perfect populations. Agree that there are probably more raw 1914 Phila cards out there. I was working on type one back then and decided to go for all 3 types. I'm currently 1 card away for type 1, 4 away from type 2, and 3 away from type 3.
