Hi-
I do not know anything about the team but they are from Taunton Massachusetts. Based on the players' apparent ages, it is probably a Babe Ruth/Pony League type team. Cool postcard. Alan |

To piggyback what Alan said about location, definitely Taunton, MA. "Anawan" was a Chief of the Wampanoag people who were situated in southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island during the early Colonial period. He was killed on what is known as "Anawan Rock" in modern day Rehoboth, MA which is essentially the next town over from Taunton. "Anawan Rock" was an early historical landmark and gave name to various places and things in the area over the years including an "Anawan Club" which according to this eBay link (not mine): (https://www.ebay.com/itm/224968155049) was at its peak development as a recreational spot in 1910 when the RPPC was made. The Club still exists in Rehoboth and is only 10 miles away from Taunton. Perhaps the club was a local semi-pro team sponsored by the booming business of the Anawan Club and won a local tournament for teams in the area situated in Taunton. |
