Best George Sisler card for HOF collection?

I would be very interested to see some nominations from members here regarding which George Sisler card would be a great “one and only“ card to add to my HOF “Set” quest.

I’ve just only begun my research and his 1921 exhibit initially caught my eye. I like the horizontal photo and the staged ball in glove looks classic and old timey.

Which other playing day George Sisler cards would you suggest?

Sisler has some attractive looking cards (E120/W573/V61 is also really nice), even most of his strip cards are in my opinion pretty attractive, like his W514, W515, W551. My favorite is his W503 card, which despite its designation, is not a strip card.

One card to avoid is his W9316 card...ouch!

I agree with the W503. If you like the 1921 Exhibit pose, you should also consider the V100, which I think has the same pose. Another nice one is the M101-5 rookie, listing him as a pitcher.

Me too.. just searched EBay and couldn’t find any, current or past sales. That usually tells me this is a rare ($$$) issue.

That true? I like the look - looks like a “real” baseball card to me.

V89 is pretty rare to be honest. M101-6 is a pretty tough issue as well. In other words, you might see one of each show up in an auction house in a year if you are lucky. If you are looking for something a little more commonly found - yet still beautiful, the E121 batting is a really solid choice. It has advertising text on the back as well which adds to the appeal.

I added a scan of the back.

I use the term "placeholder" as I only allow myself one of each -- not implying that I'm looking for an upgrade. I do often swap cards out and have no problem with a lower number on the flip. Scott

Oh man... I love that idea! Would you mind sharing a photo of the card + glove?

As the OP, I'll admit that I am leaning toward the exhibit - between affordability and the look of the card, that may be my winner.

Thanks so much for the many suggestions - it takes an Net54 Village to complete my HOF set (truth! I probably have 8-10 key cards selected because of input and opinions from this crew!)

And I think that V89 is STUNNING. Seriously. Although incredibly rare, if I didn’t care about the whole “rookie” / “pre-rookie” thing, I’d hold out for one for sure.

A W575-1 (blank back of course) might be a less expensive alternative to the E121, though neither one in average condition will be too expensive (low hundred(s)). Pardon the other cards....

When I was looking for a Sisler card for my HOF set I acquired the 1921 Exhibit. I like the horizontal cards.
