I've noticed over the past 2 weeks that both FED-EX and UPS are now leaving packages at or propped up against my garage door when they deliver to my house. The placement of the packages is usually such that they are not visible by the camera that is triggered in the car when you back up. We now have to remember to physically walk behind our car to make sure we do not run over a package when we pull out of our garage. We were lucky the first time this happened---we almost inadvertently ran over a package containing a vintage NFL bobblehead.
I'm going to call UPS over the latest delivery gaffe tomorrow. If anyone else is having the same problem (e.g., delivery person not actually bringing the package to the door or doorstep when there are no reasons not to), then please consider also calling UPS (or FED-EX) to complain. I suspect this is an example of laziness rather than an acceptable policy or practice. |

One of the drivers might have seen the other one leave a package there and assumed it was your preferred spot. Maybe leave a note that you would rather have them on the porch or whatever. Telling the company won't help as much as telling the driver.
I worked for USPS for 20 years and unless someone told me I had to find my own place. If I saw them leave it there I usually thought I could leave it there too. |

Yeah....leave a note. I can only speak for UPS where I've been employed 38 years and generally the drivers will do everything they can to accommodate a customer. I've seen people leave a pint of whiskey with a note on it and it goes a LONG way for a $5-7 investment......

Another former UPS guy here for what it's worth:
It's the holiday season and routes are broken up and overlapped and lots of drivers are given helpers/runners to run packages from the truck for them, while they set up the next stops to save time. It was common for a house call route to go from 100 stops to 200 stops between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Leaving a sign out where you want your packages is a great idea, since there's a good chance your regular guy isn't delivering your area and you have a cover driver with a helper working your neighborhood. That said, after I left UPS, I'd be perplexed when I'd occasionally see a UPS driver leave a package down in my driveway leaned up against my garage doors, when I had a giant covered front porch just 5 steps up. The type of front porch that was every delivery drivers wet dream to leave a package safely on without much worry of what would happen to it, weather or otherwise. ![]() |

LOL, we never left a pint of whiskey, but I did leave a present a few times to one UPS driver that had a beloved dog. Our dog always loved him as he was always looking out for her to throw a bone while on his route, or leave one for her. He still occasionally has our route, but even before the holidays we've seen several drivers that we've not seen before, so we haven't gotten to know them very well.
