Totally respect his reasons (wanting to spend more time with his grandchildren), but he'll be missed. He was a little rough around the edges, especially early on, but he was entertaining and the love he had for the game really came through.
Interested to see how the Red Sox move forward. Do they find a full-time color commentator, or continue with this year's various "blasts from the past" revolving lineup of former players and media personalities? Honestly, it hasn't been bad...kinda nice seeing Youk, Millar, and others from the 2004 team in the booth.

I actually like him perhaps because he was rough around the edges. Gave him more personality than others.

I don't disagree. He told it like it was, and was able to draw from his experiences (soaring highs, rough lows) to add color to just about any situation.

AgreedI will miss him (and Remy) on the broadcasts. I've enjoyed Youkilis' commentary from what I've heard.
