1/2 and 2/2. Different style autographs. Serial number 1/1 is 4703669 and serial number 2/2 is 4732674. There were 29,005 serial numbers used between both of these cards. The 1/2 and 2/2 aren't in the same handwriting. I would think if they were making a 1/2 and 2/2, they would be signed and numbered at the same time.

Someone definitely wiped the right one clean. That's not his signature.

The 1/2 on left looks fake to me. the 2/2 looks more like his signature to me.

The 1/2 is written with a thicker blue sharpie than the numbering whereas the 2/2 looks to be in the same pen.
I've never seen an authentic one that looked quite like the one on the left. To me that looks like an attempt at an earlier version of his signature C. 1994 but they didn't get it right. the 2/2 seems more in line with his C. 2006 signature version where in Rodriguez he went into the DG loop thing in the middle. Just my opinion. Here's a factory 2006 I saw on ebay. the 1/2 style looks a lot like forgeries I've seen on 1994 minor leagues cards sometimes in later GAI holders

But how can one (or both) of those autographs be phony? They're both PSA Certified!!

C.2006 examples mostly seem to have the DG loop that comes after the R in Rodriguez that looks a bit like a stretched out 8 on an angle. I don't think Alex signed in that earlier style in 2006 anymore, which is supposed to have been when these were both signed as it's a buyback auto insert. Regardless if one is real, neither, both, the style in the #1/2 signature looks like an early style attempt to me. the waviness/unevenness of the plain of the writing also stands out to me.

Those 2 were likely signed C. 1990s in that earlier style, the card on left should have been signed in 2006 when the signature was much different

Dave Both of these cards were graded by PSA neither card had the Signature authenticated. The authentication for the signatures comes from Topps.

Both signatures are legit. With Upper Deck Buybacks, they purchase the cards, have the player sign and hand number them, then Upper Deck puts their hologram serial number on the back of the cards. Cards are signed at the same time and the hologram serial numbers are also added.
With these two cards, it seems they bought the cards already signed, from two different time periods, then added the 1/2 and 2/2, which should have been done at the same time and by the same person, but wasn't. What bothers me the most, in addition to the 1/2 and 2/2 being done by two different people, is the serial number gap. Serial number 1/1 is 4703669 and serial number 2/2 is 4732674. There were 29,005 serial numbers used between both of these cards. I wouldn't touch these two cards. Last edited by SyrNy1960; 05-06-2022 at 09:36 AM. Reason: typo |

What two time periods? They are Bowman 2006 buy backs from the 2005 set.

Meaning signed at two different times. One signed maybe in January and the other signed in July? If you give someone 10 index cards and tell them to sign their signatures on each one at that time, signatures will all look closely identical. These cards weren't signed at the same time. Possibly explaining why the 1/2 and 2/2 are so different.

2006 Bowman Originals is a set that is compromised of fakes, mainly because the cards were easy to take out of the holder they came in and replaced with a bigger player fake. There were tons of fake Arods and Pujols made. Even cards of them that weren’t on the checklist. I’m pretty sure if you google search about the set you’ll find tons of threads about it, mainly on Blowout.
At the time 2006 Bowman Originals came out, Arod was a Topps spokesperson. They wouldn’t buy signed cards of his to put into products. He signed for them. |

Here's one I was given for free from a friend. I was told it was taken in person in 2003. No clue if it's authentic. But definitely not a lucrative thing to fake.
