Recently Discovered Historically Significant Baseball was discovered from the Nelson Nellie Fox Estate on 1-22-2022. I'm looking for any and all information regarding the Orange Baseballs that were sent to the Astrodome in April of 1965 by Charles O. Finley. Several articles have been printed about why Charles O. Finley sent Orange Baseballs to the "8th Wonder of the World" but in my research none have ever surfaced until now. You can find his 1970s orange Baseballs on the web fairly easily but 1965 was his very 1st prototype orange baseball approved by Mr. Finley himself to help the Astros locate the balls from the horrible glare and white panels. For the Nelson Fox family to keep this baseball over the years and display it definitely meant something to Nellie and the Astros. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

Can’t help you with this ball but Raymond “Hap” Dumont introduced an orange baseball in the 50’s. I have one and have seen a couple others. They were used in the National Baseball Congress World Series. You have a cool ball there and would love to hear more about it.

I don't believe any of these were used in games (were they?)

In two Spring Training games on March 29 and April 2 1973. The players overwhelmingly disliked the orange balls, slippery for the pitchers and the batters were unable to see the stitches on the balls because they were also orange.

It does have very reasonable shipping for an item of that price.
