Been a long time since a high grade full ‘14 cj set has been broken up and auctioned off. At least it’s been since well before the card craze of 20-21. Should be interesting to see how these cards do.
If Justin Herbert can sell for a fortune, going to be real curious what a high grade 1914 Cj Cobb and joe Jackson go for. |

Is Heritage the auction house where in their rules they allow the house to bid on items ?
So many AH’s hard to keep track. |

Well that's a major bummer, this doesn't seem like an auction for me.

Amazing how a card could be in a caramel popcorn box 108 years ago and not a trace of staining. It's like magic!

AH! Didn't know that. I know the 1915 set had a mail in option that allowed someone to get the full set.

They're not 14CJs without caramel stains.

I thought some 14s were discovered that had been taken from the factory by an employee back in the day, I don't recall there were sets like the 15, but someone can correct me if I am remembering that wrong.
In any case, I am always highly skeptical of CJs that look too clean, but that's just me.

I agree! Great looking cards Phil - I think the grader(s) must have been smoking crack the day they slabbed those.

If I recall at a Cleveland National (I think 2004) a factory 1914 set walked into the show and Bill Mastro bought them. They were submitted to SGC and I think the Joe Jackson received a SGC 98 and many other cards with very high grade. The cards were sold privately, possibly to Randy Stuckmeyer.
I believe there was an article in Sport Collector's Digest if anyone has back copies to check. |

Here is an old Net54 thread about the factory set I mentioned above.
https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=75425 The link to the SGC article no longer works. Last edited by ncinin; 12-15-2021 at 12:22 PM. |

I think they are the most beautiful set there is. Saw some of them at the Burdick exhibit at The Met and they are just stunning.
