![]() ![]() Best try to find a set. If you are chasing his RC, it is actually a Japan World Boxing card from 1997:

Adam thanks very much, I did indeed think it was his RC.

Chasing HOF rookies is an international game.
There are several HOFers and future HOFers who have Japanese RCs, besides Pac-Man and B-Hop. Most notably for me are Tommy Hearns and Salvador Sanchez, who both appeared on magazine issued stickers or cards that predated their Paninis. ![]() From Gong Magazine, in 1981. Kenny Norton has a 1975 Malaysian 'menko' card. That predates all others I've found. The Klitschkos appear on Ukrainian calendar cards from 2000, which predate their 'rookies' and I think (Dave. chime in here) there are even earlier German cards. Smokin' Joe Frazier has those 1964 Olympics cards, plus this PC from the games: ![]()

The Gong Salvador Sanchez was issued in May 1982. So same year as the Panini, though I'm not sure which technically came first.
There was another Japanese Salvador Sanchez issued as a magazine insert around the same time I have to dig up and take a picture of when I get a chance. Last edited by D. Bergin; 08-23-2021 at 02:11 PM. |

Quick search looks like there is a German Bravo Sports mag insert card of Wlad from 1998 and Vitali from 1999. Never had one before, but run across them online every once in awhile. They look similar to SI cards, with perforations. |
