Offshoot from the other thread. Not sure how to do this as a poll but for the following players please state your opinion as to which is the rookie card.
1. Yaz -- 1960 Topps or 1961 Topps (his first MLB appearance). 2. Puckett -- 1984 Fleer Update (XRC per Beckett) or 1985 issues. 3. Berra -- 1947 Tip Top (regional) or 1948 Bowman. 4. Jeter -- 1993 issues or 1995 issues (his first MLB appearance). 5. Trout -- 2009 Bowman Chrome or 2011 issues (his first MLB appearance and first official RC designations). 6. Jordan -- 1984 Star 101 or 1986 Fleer.

I'm not sure how I feel about regionals, honestly. Otherwise, easy choices for me are 60 Yaz, 84 Puckett, 93 Jeter, 11 Trout and 84 Jordan.

I have a hard time giving regionals enough weight to warrant a rookie designation.
But for me, it has and always is the first nationally accessible card from a licensed card company, regardless of ‘perceived’ rarity. So a Topps or a Fleer or a Bowman first issued card will be that persons true rookie card. It is possible for a player to have multiple rookie cards too. A player shows up for the first time in multiple base sets or multiple rookie/traded/update sets. These would all be rookie cards IMHO. If they show up in the base set first and then again in a traded/rookie/update set of that same company in the same year, the base card is their true rookie card. I would also consider licensed verses unlicensed as well. So if a company put out a newer rookie card and they were not licensed with the respective league, that card is a bootleg to me and holds no value or credence of any sort. This strictly deals with newer, modern cards 50’s and later. 60 Yaz, 84 Puckett, 93 Jeter, 11 Trout and 84 Jordan are my selections as well. My .02 cents. The 86' Fleer Jordan has been shoved down our throats for a long time by PSA. How many times has it been discussed in the SMR? How many times did Joe Orlando mention this card, especially on his Twitter account? Millions of times! On top of this, PSA blacklisted all the Star Co. BKB sets. This is why things are the way they currently are. But like I said before, Nat Turner can change this tomorrow if he wants to. All it'll take is one phone call. So far nothing has happened, and I understand cause' PSA has bigger things to worry about at the moment. However, when things clear up a bit, I just hope we can start seeing the Star Co. BKB cards in PSA holders. The #101 Jordan is THE card!

And let's not overlook the Court Kings, probably Jordan's first issue.
