Wish I had seen this sooner. Not much Andy Oyler stuff out there. Here is his 1909 Minneapolis Tribune supplement.

Here's my C.1908 Andy Oyler RPPC....

"Little Andy Oyler is famous for hitting the shortest (and muddiest) home run in baseball history (24 inches) on August 2, 1904 while playing for the Minneapolis Millers"

I am skeptical of the two foot home run story. First, seems implausible, and there were no news reports of such a home run at the time. Maybe just an exaggeration? According to Wikipedia, Oyler ‘s grandson appeared on an episode of Antiques Roadshow about a year ago, claiming to have a ball from that game. Don’t know if he claimed it to be THAT ball.

And that is an awesome postcard!

Just watched the video. The grandson claims it is the actual ball hit for the two foot home run. He says it was the last play of a game played in the rain, and after circling the bases, Oyler himself pulled the ball out of the mud and kept it. Great story, could be true, I suppose. Probably not.
