Seller says its a 5, label says its a 4, my eyes say it's a 3 at best, but what the heck do I know?

Candidly, I looked at the card before checking out the flip. I thought, "that's a 4 at best."

You could always message the seller with, "...listing reads 5; however a 4 is pictured..."

Personally, I wouldn't engage unless a 4 or 5 was on my wish list. Otherwise, it would be a waste of time for me and the seller.

I did the same, but like, G1911, I also thought 3 at best but was leaning more towards a 2.5.
I don't know slabs hardly at all, but does the left, bottom left and full bottom not look frosted?

When looking at any graded card, I message the seller: "Is the PSA (or SGC, BVG, BGS) holder damaged in any way?"

I've gotten the entire spectrum of answers, from dead silence to detailed explanations. And yes, I've gotten a few nasty replies. It's kind of fascinating to read the answers, at times.

In any event, the answer serves two purposes:

1. Gives me an idea of the type of seller I would be dealing with, if I decide to purchase
2. Gives me an expanded "item description" - in case an INAD return is in order

That card for me would be in fair to good condition, there's too much wear on the corners as does the image. Due to the difficulty and price of putting the set together, it would still be a desirable card to own.

People make mistakes. I’ve also seen some older PSA slabs that say “4 - VG”

Some eBayers do it on purpose.
A card came up in my searches, and I thought, "Yowza! That's a good price for a PSA 9." I studied the card and couldn't find any hidden problems (case scratches, etc.) that might have led to a discounted price. Only then did I realize the card was a PSA 8, not a PSA 9 as the title stated. I messaged the seller and pointed out the specific error in his listing. He thanked me and said he would correct it immediately. After countless months, the card was continually being re-listed time and again STILL as a PSA 9. There is no way in heck I was the only one who pointed out the blatant error to him, so he clearly wants to fool someone.

I wrote the seller and informed him. He said he tried to change it but couldn't, which I've heard before, that once it is posted, it is impossible to do?
He thanked me for the heads up and said he'd let the buyer know it is only a 4 instead of a 5 in case the buyer also didn't see the listing error?

I'm not sure how ebay.ca works. However, on ebay.com the seller, among many other things, can:

• Edit the title
• Edit the item description
• Edit the item specifics
• End the listing and list it over again, with the correct info

There are some changes they cannot make if there are active offers they've sent.

So, the seller should do one of the following:

1. Let their offers expire and edit the listing
2. Take it down and re-list
3. Ask eBay for help with editing

I have came across what I wrote above before and was told the same thing, once the post is up, they can't change/edit it, they can only add info at the bottom of the page?

I believe, IIRC, I have contacted both U.S. and CDN sellers with similar/same issues and have been told the same by both.

I guess we need a seller to tell us or maybe there is a way to change things up but the sellers I've talked to don't know how?
I guess anything's possible?

3. Click "Listings"
4. Use the Search feature to locate the item you want to revise
5. To the left of that item's thumbnail image, click "Edit"

At that point, the seller is in the same section they were when creating the listing. Simply change the parts that should be changed (like the title) and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Click "Update listing"

Thanks Eric. I can only assume many/some don't know how to do that, or like Jolly said above, it is intentional to try and fool/trick potential buyers?

I found the following info on eBay:

Auction-style listings
What you change in an auction-style listing depends on how much time is left on the listing.

More than 12 hours
What's changeable depends on whether your listing has received any bids.


Bids
You can:
Add a second category, unless there are category restrictions (fees may apply)
Add to the item description
Add photos
Add optional listing upgrades to increase your item's visibility

You can't:
Change the listing format
Change the listing duration
Change the starting price
Edit the listing description

So you can "add to the item description" but you can't "edit the listing description". I'm not sure what the difference is between the item description and the listing description. Is the listing description the title?

Yes, the revision technique I posted last night applies to buy-it-now listings, not auctions. My apologies for conflating the two.
