1) SOLD. Walter Johnson's penultimate appearance in battle on a pitching mound and his last trip to his beloved Kansas took place on June 25, 1944, as he pitched one inning for each side in a War Bond fund-raising effort at the annual Knights of Columbus vs. Shriners game in Wichita. Johnson graced the cover of an 18-page program and scorecard (unscored) for the game, and this is the only copy of that program I've ever seen. Complete and fully intact, but pretty beat up and heavily creased when it was folded in half. Oversized at 9"x12"
2) $250. Tough 1947 Washington Senators photo booklet routinely catalogued as the the first Washington yearbook. Walter Johnson, who had just died a few months earlier, graces the cover, the inside containing a tribute to Johnson along with photos of the members of the 1947 Washington ballclub. Excellent condition with some toning as the only detraction. 6"x8&1/2"
3) $250. Extremely rare 1950 Washington Senators yearbook, the first one actually put out by the team. Extraordinary condition for this 70 year-old publication, almost like it just rolled off the printing press. Standard yearbook size of 8&1/2"x11."
4) $150. Rare 7"x11" "Johnny Stone Day" program at Griffith Stadium on Sept 17, 1939, to honor Stone, who had contracted an illness that would end his career. The toughest by far of a handful of Washington special day programs, this one is in excellent condition.
5) SOLD. Rare 3"x6" 1926 Washington schedule blotter advertising the Washington Post and featuring "The Big Train," Walter Johnson, in a pitching photo in the background. The front is in good condition with a few minor creases, the back has some paper loss.
