I originally found this card (along with a group of other Curtis Ireland cards at an antiques show back in the 1990's. The dealer wanted $1300 dollars for those cards plus some American Caramel cards. He wouldn't sell the cards individually.
Being a college student then, I didn't have the money to buy the stack of cards so I called my mentor Ted Koch and he came and offered the guy $1000 for the cards and the dealer accepted it. I remember the Cobb card had like black construction paper on the back and Mr. Koch said he would have to be careful and soak that off. I lost contact with Mr. Koch after he moved out of town and later found out that he sold the Curtis Ireland cards in one of Lew Lipset's auctions in the early 2000's. So, I have now missed out on buying this card at least three times in the last 25 or so years..... David
