Hi,
I am wondering if there is a way to flatten Kelloggs cards. I bought an uncut sheet but it was in a poster tube for a long time. Is there a good way to flatten the cards without making cracks? Here is one of my favorite cards in the 1970 Kelloggs set: https://www.net54baseball.com/attach...1&d=1609101579 Thanks, Eric Last edited by e6phillips; 12-27-2020 at 01:40 PM. |

I'm not saying that there isn't a method to doing it and if there is I would love to know it, but a few years ago I tried to flatten out some mint 1974 Kellogg's that were curled that I bought on eBay, and when I checked on them after a few days they were all exploded. I haven't tried it since.

I am only guessing here because the ones I've tried to flatten have cracked but I would experiment with heat and slow steps on some samples. room temperature face down with some cardboard resting on top for a few weeks, maybe increase the room temp and additional layers of cardboard/weight to see how they go, then ultimately into sleeves. I think you may be lucky that it is an uncut sheet so the stress is spread out over the entire sheet.

I think these words of Dante Alighieri ring true: "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here."

My set was very curved when I got it. I put them in Ultra Pro pages and they reside under my regular issue 1970 set in a binder. Still a little curved (after about 20 years), but no cracks. I think that is how they will stay.

I’ve tried several times with different methods. Best case scenario on any of my experiments is the fronts stayed good. The backs usually will wrinkle if you can get the front to straighten without breaking. The best results were arrived to by placing two cards that are curled back to back in a ten card case for a couple weeks slowly adding flat cards to the case.

I've decent luck by placing the Kelloggs card in a penny sleeve+toploader.
