This is coming to me from "around the barn." At this point, I have only the scan to judge. It looks fine to me but would appreciate opinions to the contrary. My guess is that it is about a $750 piece, but given the current state of the hobby, I may be out of step. I see several listed at considerably high prices, but not confirmed sales at a significantly higher price point.
Thoughts?

What's behind it giving a double border look, or is that an optical illusion?

It looks like, to me, there are cards in behind it?

I don't have it in hand, but I'l bet it the illusion or the bevel on the old "brick" holder.

Have him take it our and send you a pi/scan on a black background. I'll send you scan of mine for comparison, along with a couple more questions. Gimme about 40 min.

That's what I was thinking but it would be nice to be sure before you shell out for it.

Ask him to take it out and send you scans/pics, once he does ask him how it feels, don't prompt him. His answer should be "thin". These were made with thin cardstock.
Have him measure the card. Kashins are 3 3/8 x 4 1/2. Kashin Premiums are 5 x 7. It looks like a regular to me. My concern is the "wow" on the upper left border and a seemingly disappearing lower left border, although that may be an optical illusion. Border registration can be tough on these. It passes the sniff test but lets make sure. Also, ask him if he has others, the Ott & Hornsby are tough HOFers in this set, among others. The Ruth is more plentiful. Here's mine to compare. |

Card should come to twice that if authentic. I'd buy it for $750 if I were convinced it was real.

Looks like it's in a non-recessed inch thick screwdown. If your goal is PSA, I'd be surprised if it gets over an AUTH because of pressing. But definitely have them take it out first, as parts of the image could easily flake off if any moisture got in there. Or the card stuck to the holder. He may want to put the screwdown in a freezer for an hour before attempting to unscrew it.
