Hi all,
Looking for insights/suggestions as to what storage units to purchase to safely store/hold graded baseball cards. Plan to store with mixed grader variety of same year. Appreciate your help....Tim |

These were purchased at my local card shop. No item number on the box to ID them. Larry

I've found that a 7.62mm M13 ammo can holds graded cards nicely. I was able to put PSA, SGC and BVG cards in them and not only do they provide protection for the slabs (which provide protection for the cards) but they also come with a handle.
I stuff a sock in them to keep the cards from sliding around until the can is full. The biggest downside to these is showing up at the shooting range with a ammo can full of PSAs.

Anyone try any of those available on eBay that are not just cardboard? What DoD you think. Best bang for the buck?

This is an example of one I built for myself from 1/2" mdf scrap. Guessing you could probably get 7 or 8 out of full sheet. So if you have access to a tablesaw and a few clamps, just make one on your own.

Stick with archive safe materials. More expensive but better for long term storage:

I just use BCW double row cardboard boxes. Each box can hold 130 PSA cards. SGC is a bit thicker so maybe 120 per box and BVG I'm guessing 100 per box. I use these boxes because they are simple, cheap, and don't weigh hardly anything. A full box is pretty heavy so I don't want to add even more weight using a metal or wooden box. Maybe once I'm done collecting, I'll figure out something better but until then, it's just simpler moving these boxes around and keeping cards in order.
Here's a random ebay link for these boxes. Even my local baseball card shop keeps these in stock which is nice and saves on shipping charges. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BCW-Graded-...oAAOSwby1emMs0 ![]()

Thanks for giving us all a heads up about the BCW Graded Card Shoe Storage Boxes, Ron. I just hit a buy it now for 5 of them at a pretty cheap price.

Hey Ron, that's exactly what I use. As a set collector, not every card is in a PSA holder. For cards not is holders, I put them into penny sleeves, put the sleeves into a top holder, and then put the top loader into a Team Bag. That makes them just wide enough to not slip inside the boxes.

About a year ago I bought 5 BCW Vault Storage boxes, thinking they would be perfect for storing my PSA and SGC slabs in my bank's sdb. As it turns out only two, I believe would fit. I could fit the rest of my cards in smaller boxes or loose but that isn't what I wanted.
A couple of months ago I decided the cut them up and made them about 9.5 inches long so they would fit perpendicular to the length of the box. It looks like that will fix my problem! The next time at the bank I'll take a pic.

Thank Ron. These look the best for me. I bought 4 plastic cases earlie with the foam. They work and seal.tight, but the cost is steep and they really dont hold thst many cards. There is another similar for $150 that is said to.hold 300 slabbed cards of mixed variety. But I am thinking for me the bcw is best. Thanks..Tim

Glad I was able to help many of you out. I also use the double row boxes to put my daily purchases in, till I get the chance to put the cards in order in the right boxes. I also have a couple where I keep all my cards that I either list for sale or at auction. I even have a few that have Beanie Babies in them for long term storage. Out of all the different size boxes and layouts, the double row graded box is my preferred choice. I did see at one time the same type of box but with three rows. But I'm figuring they would be too heavy when completely full. A double row box completely filled with an equal mix of PSA and SGC graded cards weighs 15 pounds.

Thought I would bump this thread, as I just bought some extremely-easy-to-assemble boxes off of Amazon that were right on the money, and wanted to point them out to anyone looking for a solution to the graded card storage problem...
(8) Graded Shoe 2-Row Cardboard Storage Boxes - Baseball, Football, Basketball, Hockey, Nascar, Sportscards, Gaming & Trading Cards Collecting Supplies by MAX PRO - GSB Sold by: Columbia Sports LLC $32.99 I grabbed the package of 8, but you can buy 25 or so of them at similar or cheaper prices per unit if you need a whole bunch of them. (To be perfectly clear, I have no relationship whatsoever with the seller/sellers. No horse in this race.)

Does anyone know where I could find storage boxes, similar to the BCW ones, for Tall-Boy holders (1965 Topps FB, 1969-70 Topps BskB, T201, T202, etc.....?

Bang.
Right answer. Water protection from the case, sitting inside my fire rated safe, hopefully combining to give me the best protection for these little bits of paper I can get outside a deposit box. Holds a tonne of cards too. Last edited by 68Hawk; 11-13-2020 at 08:17 PM. |
