Default FS: 1957 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 3 - BEAUTIFUL

sold

This is truly one of the most well presenting low grade 57 Mantles available. 50/50 centering coupled with amazing color and no snow. Please note the reasons for the low grade; slight crease top center front, 1 inch line visible with correct light angle on top right, pencil 'X' mark over his torso near his waist. Please see the scan for a clear picture and if you need a scan of the back please let me know

Default Erasure ??

..Hello and welcome to BST......do you mind if I ask you how you got a number grade for an erased pencil mark right on the front ?? My subs come back with an "A" when they see the erasure.....if there's a pencil or ink writing on the card and is not erased then they use the dreaded "MARK" Qualifier .....thanks , gorgeous for a "3" ..truly is.

IMO, big kudos to seller for large scan and calling out the erasure.
Not so much to PSA.

Beautiful card, GLWS.

I was wondering the same thing. No authentic designation or at least a mark qualifier? Wow. Awesome disclosure from seller! Good luck, sir.

Thanks! The way the mark appears I don't believe it was directly on this card. The way it looks I would presume that whichever card was on top of the mantle received the mark but the indentation went through to the Mantle. There is not ink or any indication of anything being erased, simply indentation.

I picked this card up from my LCS when it came in a massive collection of 50s-70s stuff that also included a 54 Aaron, 69 Ryan, 53 Mantle, and a 55 Koufax as well. I purchased this 57 Mantle and the 55 Koufax and sent them off to PSA around the same time, Koufax came back 4.5 but has since been sold.

..Okay Then ; that makes sense and clears things up....Indentations would just bring the grade down with no need for a "Q"....I (and a hundred others on here ) have some otherwise gorgeous survivors but with an obvious thumbnail indent somewhere----it makes for some awesome looking 3's and 4's.......good luck with it ;if you look at PWCC "sold" '57 Mantles you're right in the ballpark for pricing....
