Just getting back into the hobby after about 25 years away so I have A LOT to learn. I sent a 1909 Sweet Caporal T206 Admiral Schlei (catching) into SGC for grading. It came back as SML. I know that means the card was too small to grade but what does that actually mean? Is it authentic? Has it been trimmed? I just want to know going forward how to refer to the card if I were to sell it. Thanks for any information you can provide.

So it sounds like the equivalent of MINSIZREQ from PSA: Too small for the issue to give it a number grade, but no evidence of trimming. A.k.a. "Factory cut short"

It's what the uncouth used to call trimming. Huggins & Scott prefers "perimeter modifications": https://www.hugginsandscott.com/cgi-...d=100&lotno=54

Undersize isn't always trimmed. Especially on older cards.
I can see why a grading company wouldn't put a number on a factory but small card, it would look bad to people that only think of size. |

Also keep in mind that women measure differently than men
