Default Favorite cards from the topps 50's sets

I enjoyed the thread about favorite and least favorite sets from the 50-70's and thought it would be fun to see what everyones favorite individual card was from the tops sets of the 1950's. If it goes well we can do 60's next week.
Happy collecting and here are my favorites:

51 Duke Snider (Great pic and smile with the Dodger hat)

52 Enos Slaughter (incredible colors and pose)

53 Roy Campanella (what a smile. My fave card of all time)

54 Al Kaline (love the youth and the red background)

55 Sandy Koufax (what a card)

56 Mickey Mantle (possibly the most beautiful card of all time IMO)

57 Ernie Banks (love the pose and colors)

58 Brooks Robinson (he looks 13)

59 Roberto Clemente (love the yellow)

Honorable mentions: 52 Mantle / 53 Paige / 54 Ford / 55 Rizzouto / 59 Mantle

1952 Topps Mize, Zernial, and Larry Jansen
1953 Bowman Stan Musial
1953 Topps Willie Mays and Hal Newhouser
1954 Bowman Ted Williams
1954 Topps Al Kaline
1955 Topps Jackie Robinson
1956 Topps Mantle
1957 Topps Hank Aaron (this is the card that got me back into the hobby about 10 years ago).
1958 Topps Stan Musial All Star card

I started threads on the best cards of each Topps series (starting from 1980 backwards) several years back. It didn't get that much traction. Maybe I can bring it back to life.

1953 Bowman. The only card in the set that wasn't a color photograph.

This thread needs some photos to make it interesting. I only used scans of cards I own. Here are some of my favorites. Couldn't decide which 1953 Topps I like better so I showed both.

Great minds think alike haha.
I just figured we all need some distractions right now given the craziness in the country and no sports

Well this is for favorite Topps cards. The 53 Bowman Reese is a great card, but belongs on a different list in a different thread.

Do we need to pay royalties on "badassery"?

I'll list my top for each set...no duplicate players allowed...
52 Topps Willie Mays
53 Topps Jackie Robinson
54 Topps Jackie Jensen
55 Topps Ernie Banks
56 Topps Roberto Clemente
57 Topps Carl Furillo
58 Topps Sandy Koufax
59 Topps Hank Aaron

only in a list such as this...with Mays in the mix, would 52 Eddie Mathews not be on the list...it's virtually a tossup. The Mays has always been my Holy Grail card though.

I am sad Campy isn't getting much love but the choices are hard to argue with

1952 Monty Irvin, Jackie Jensen
1953 Sid Gordon, Orestes Minoso
1954 Ted Williams #1, Warren Spahn
1955 Ed Mathews, Jackie Robinson
1956 Roy Campanella, Roy Sievers
1957 Sal Maglie, Al Smith
1958 Stan Musial AS, Nellie Fox
1959 Don Drysdale, Mickey Mantle AS

Sadly, as great as Willie Mays was, I think every card Topps issued of him (with the exception of the 1958 AS) has him with some sort of scowl or unpleasant look to where the card is unattractive. Of course, 1961 Topps was the peak of this. Other players, like Bob Gibson and Juan Marichal, never seemed to have a bad card. Is it just me?

Keeping value and rarity out of the equation, I've always liked Al Benton's 52 Topps card.

A great smile and colors always made me spend a little extra time looking at this card.
