Hey you OJ experts,
I can almost read the name in the caption (XXXX, C, Cincinnati) but not quite for certain. Is this player Billy Earle? Any help appreciated- Tim |

Randy, thanks, it sure does.
I wondered too because the pose is not listed in the Standard Catalog checklist of OJ cabinets, but I assume that is incomplete. Anybody else confirm? |

That is definitely Billy Earle. The Standard Catalog list of N173 Old judge cabinets is missing quite a few as new images are still being discovered.

It's Earle. The pose is 142-3 in N172, per the book by Miller, Gonsowski & Masson.

To say the Standard Catalog is useless for anything Old Judge demeans the word useless.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that NOBODY believes the OJ Bible is useless for anything but OJs (N172). There is SO much information in that book and my guess is that most just people like looking at the pretty pictures (different poses) without reading a lot of the meaty material. As people start reading the content in detail, they will have a greater appreciation for the work that you Joe, Richard and others (that helped put the Bible together) put into that incredible resource. That said, when can we have a peak at any information that is considered "amendment" material.

I believe Jay was referring to the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards from SCD/Krause; NOT the Old Judge Encyclopedia that he co-authored with Joe and Richard. Steve

Thanks Fred, I thought you were coming after me. I was referring to the Krause publication. It has never been any good, especially price wise. I always thought the best general source for Old Judge information prior to our book was Lew’s Encyclopedia. I used that for a long time for info and for my checklist.

Jay,
I'm pretty mellow and do my best to not pee in people's Cheerios. You, Joe, Richard and the rest of your crew will never understand, or realize, just how much a lot of us appreciate that Bible. I'll always reiterate that as much as possible because IMHO, it's not said enough.
