...a healthy 32 Year Old Sandy Koufax pitching in 1968. How insane would've those numbers been?
What scenario, hypothetical but possible, not Walter Johnson pitching against the 1993 Marlins or something, intrigues you?

I sometimes think about that Williams-DiMaggio trade that almost happened. Ted hitting in Yankee Stadium and Joe smashing them off the green monster.

What if... Bo Jackson never got injured in football. For what he did, during the brief time he played (as a side hobby to baseball), in my book he was the most dominant running back of all time. As it was he had better yards per carry than Jim Brown. The monster power! The Olympic sprinter speed! Sigh. He had more TD runs from scrimmage per carry than anyone. I never forget the time I was standing in line waiting to make a horse bet at Hollywood Park, Bo busted one for a TD, the place erupted so loud, was incredible! And the time he threw out Harold Reynolds at the plate...from the warning track...on the fly, no hop! Most amazing throw I have ever seen!

Aaron & Mays playing together in the Giants outfield. Apparently the Braves offered Aaron $50 more per month.
Early Wynn pitching to Lou Gehrig and Pete Rose. He didn’t, but his career spanned 1939 to 1963. Tom Seaver on the 1984 to 1986 Mets. And of course, no segregation at any time in history for any reason.

Dave Kingman playing for the Red Sox.
With him being guy who hit a lot of very long popups, him playing in Fenway half the season would probably have us saying "McGwire Sosa and Bonds made a good run at the season HR record, but just didn't get there. Unless he tried too hard with that looming wall so close. And didn't get enough hits. Then maybe he actually would have been the first 40HR sub .200 hitter. |

What if Jim Creighton didn't die so early?
What if Steve Dalkowski had any control? What if Sidd Finch had been real? ===========================

The biggest one is no segregation How many all time greats did we miss in MLB and how different would baseball history look today?

And, here's my Bo Jackson story. Summer of 1987, my Brother-in-law and I (on the spur-of the-moment) took the train(s) to Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees vs KC. Bo Jackson is in town. The only seats we could get were in the upper deck RF. In the 7th inning Bo Jackson hits the ball and its coming directly at us. It was hit with such power, that we quickly had to scramble to get away from it's path. The ball hit a row of empty seats in front of us with such intensity that it caromed all the way back into the infield. Now is that POWER, or what ? ? And remember this, Bo was a right-handed batter. To clarify on the most TD's from scrimmage - I was wrong and didn't research before I wrote. What I meant was, the NFL posts the stat of "Longest Rush" per each season where Bo led the entire NFL for 3 of the 4 seasons he played. Keep in mind he played 1987-1990 and in those seasons only played in 7, 10, 11 and 10 games respectively. 1987 he led NFL with a 91 yard rush, 1989 led NFL with a 92 yard rush and 1990 led NFL with an 88 yard rush. I don't know if those rushes ultimately went all the way for TD's, but suspect good chance yes. Jim Brown, in 9 seasons posted longest rush twice. Barry Sanders, in 10 years, playing 15-16 games/season never once posted the longest rush.

How about the "imagine" Astros rotation of the mid to late 80's. Nolan Ryan, Mike Scott, Bob Knepper and JR Richard if he hadn't had a stroke. Only rotation in history with 3 300k pitchers.

I wonder what kind of numbers Darryl Strawberry would have put up if his career wasn't derailed by partying and drug use. Still have never seen a more beautiful swing or more majestic home runs. I think he could have been one of the great ones.

Ken Griffey Jr. and/or Barry Larkin on the 2000 Mets who both rejected trades at the last minute. Instead we got Mike Bordick.
That's like asking for a Filet Mingon and getting a crap sandwich instead.
