Default Question about t206 Matthewson

I am a newbie trying to learn as much as possible. I have a Matthewson dark cap Piedmont card in very good condition. Does it being a 350/460 factory 42 effect the value?

Nice first post. Yes, a Piedmont Factory 42 is always valuable, and on a Matty in VG condition that would make it a very valuable card.

Thank you for your reply. Do you have an idea of the value? Is there someone in the Carolina’s or Georgia that would be a good place to help me know the value of my small collection?

Not sure of local appraisal but if you search PSA population you can get an idea of its rarity. Unique T206s always do well. Any images to share?

I've seen Factory 42 multipliers of x6... now, I'm not sure if people really pay that for it.

If you figure it is a $400-500 card, $2-3000 may not be unreasonable. Can you post pics?

VCP only shows one Matty Pied 42 sale in the last 10 years. It went for $1,025, but that card was in poor condition. If your card really is very good, I would say $2,500 at least.

I have attached a couple of photos. Sorry about the quality. I am not a very good photographer.

If it's trimmed, you'd have to subtract a good deal of money though....

It doesn’t appear to have been trimmed. If it was it would have been over seventy years ago. I have 21 t206 and 13 t210 cards that we’re my father’s. I am not sure where he got them, but I believe they were my grandfathers. I have had the cards since 1987 and never really cared much about them. An Old Mill cigarette package came with the cards.

I'd send the highlights into SGC and get them graded. That is a gorgeous Matty

Is there someplace where I can go in the Carolinas or Georgia to get the value of the cards? I also have 33 other cards. Looking at their site it could get expensive. I have a Ty Cobb bat on shoulder and Eddie Collins in the group. If I was selling them that seems feasible, but all I want is an estimated value.

You could also post good pictures of all of them here to get some thoughts on value.

If you are able to guess the approximate the grades, you can look at the free price guide www.cardtarget.com to see past sales and get an idea of what you might have.

Here's my Piedmont 42 Matty for comparison.

I have attached a few of the cards. Most of these are Piedmont 350’s except the Mathewson 350/460 42 and another is a 150. I put the Mathewson card back to back with the other cards and it has not been trimmed.

Most of them look very good, except the Cobb appears poor.

The Cobb is poor. I can not thank everyone enough for their advice. The folks who have personally messaged me have really been helpful. They have gone above and beyond.

That's awesome. Glad to hear that!

I had read North Carolina, but wasn’t sure where in NC. Thanks.
