I’ve had my eye on this since black swamp. The idea of owning a mint caramel Cobb plus the fact that they came down in price. Early 2019, the mint Cobb dropped from mid 30’s to low 20’s. And the last mint Cobb sold on pwcc for just under 18k. Not pocket change, but cheap for a mint cobby.
But the sucker keeps going lower as more cards comes out. There are 24 mint Cobbs on the PSA pop report alone. I know that the pop wil keep a lid on it; can someone help take me off the edge from jumping... |

Couple ways to look at it assuming this is for your PC. If the card is at a price you're comfortable with and you've been waiting 8 years for it why not add it to your collection and enjoy it. If you want to be the guy who pays the lowest price ever for a mint Cobb and are willing to wait for it then that's an option. Are you willing to wait another 8 years? Nobody wants to overpay for a card but there comes a tipping point when building a PC where money shouldn't be the only deciding factor. There's really no right answer other than trust your instinct and if it feels right you'll know when to pull the trigger.
There's also a quote I saw from a member here: "The only card I regret buying is the one I didn't buy". Good luck in your pursuit. |

Even if a buy it now listing, you might think about making the seller a offer -??

Ive been slowly putting together an e98 collection and one thing I've noticed is that the cards are very tough to move. Always worth making an offer to the seller of your comfort level and you may be surprised.

Thanks. I got a couple messages confirming the same. . I was an early buyer on BSFs like a Wagner, young and Clarke. Got burned on all of them. But I did enjoy looking at the cards and thinking how well preserved they are for over 100 years ago.
If the price is right, I’ll bite, otherwise it’s the sidelines for me. |

While I agree it would be kinda "cool" to own a gem mint or close to it E98 Cobb...or any other for that matter. I do not believe BSF cards are a good "investment!" There are just way too many of them...there is doubt amongst some...as to their authenticity as well.
This "find" has forever ruined the high end e98 market...IMO. There are exponentially more high grade E98's...than not...not good! |

No...I don't have any...I just know there are people out there who continue to doubt their authenticity...I am NOT one of them!

I can tell you having personally held a SGC 9.5 E98 Cobb in hand, they are simply stunning!

I've never doubted the authenticity of the BSF cards...but I have always doubted the investment potential of them!!!

The only significant find I know of...the black swamp find...where the provenance hurts the value!!!!!!
It seems many of these are finding holders without the provenance...and are doing better?? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1910-E98-Se...YAAOSwbHBgVSIj |

BSF definitely ruined the market for my E98 set but I still love looking at them just the same.

I sold off my BSF collection last year, but held onto these BSF 1-of-1s. So if you are building a BSF set, you need to come through me!

Hi Jerry,
I'm lucky enough to have gotten the Vaughn, along with the other E98s that I posted, as part of a complete all green set obtained by my father and I from the original collector back in the mid 70's. As far as Vaughns possible scarcity with a green background, I can't speak with much authority but when I used to track E98 sales before the BSF there did seem to be certain player/background color combination scarcities within the set. |

Yeah Scott, back when I was putting my set together the only Vaughn I could find was red background with an Old Put stamp on the back...I don't think the owner felt it should be worth any more...this was the early days of ebay...Jerry
