Just got this in. (T206 for size comparison)
I think it's probably a reprint tintype ![]() The back chipping looks to be a plastic film? Thoughts? and some real ones below...

Appears to be Bobby Mathews image taken directly from Goodwin glass plate negative. Perhaps a Vermont find piece?

Out of my wheelhouse, but just wanted to say that Leon has finally found a suitable replacement for his quarter.

Original tintypes are mirror images. The wording "Athletics" should be reversed.

It appears to be one of Vermont Find Old Judge photos. Included "tintypes" and the tintypes were 5x7 inches. The Vermont find photos were made from the original glass negatives and it's been deduced that they were made in the early 1900s.

I'm now home for the day with access to my images. Leon, your tintype was long ago created from this Vermont Find glass plate negative (I managed to obtain several negatives including this pose of Mathews).
These original negatives vary in quality, but some such as this Mathews batting pose are simply amazing. I've written about this image and others in past. This photo (negative) was from Gilbert and Bacon in 1888. A neat aspect of this pose is that Mathews is holding a very early Louisville Slugger bat.

Joe- Your observations opened up a great new discovery. See the thread on the memorabilia side.
