As a T206 Seymour collector I keep an eye on the market and noticed this card on ebay... a cycle 460. Only one known... and the price is simply jaw dropping. But more surprising then the end cost was the fact that the bid history shows 3 different bidders had placed a bid over $11,000! Thought this was interesting enough to share with the board and get some feedback/comments.

Unbelievable price for sure. The great thing about graded pop reports is you have no idea how many ungraded out there. I know of one and a good chance of a second ungraded variations of the card. This is the first one that I am aware of that has come up for sale.
I spent a fair amount of time verifying all existing Cycle 460s. The last one was Schaefer, within a year three showed up. Would not be surprised if the other show up after this. Lee

If I had been bidding I would have been the guy who placed the $33.00 bid, hoping that collectors would forget about the auction ending on the same night as REA, and thus would not be topped by any of their $100+ snipes.
Brian (My Cycle 460 knowledge is obviously lacking, and I am a cheap bastard) Last edited by brianp-beme; 03-24-2019 at 11:37 PM. |

Is this one of the front/back combinations that David Hall was lacking? That might explain one of the high bidders.

SGC has 6 graded 1911 Cycle 460s without any variation indicated. I'd assume chances are good some of those were the portrait variation because 4 have already been graded with the Glove showing variation and 3 have been graded with the Throwing variation.
$13K seems absurd for a common player with a toughish back that is probably not the only one in existence. Man the cool stuff you could buy for $13k, but to each their own.
