SOLD RARE 1913-1917 Official American League Ban Johnson Baseball Game Used
1913 - 1917 Reach Official American League Ball Ban Johnson President Signature Stamping.
A TRUE DEAD BALL FROM THE DEAD BALL ERA!
Ball is in very good shape for being 100 years old.
This is a very rare version to find and can be positively dated to those years from Brandon Grunbaum's "History of the Base Ball" - ball dating guide.
These is some VERY FAINT handwriting and a signature on the ball. And to me it looks like and matches up with Tris Speaker. No guarantees though. Also, looks to be a possible date 191? and the word Cleveland possibly, but don't quote me, but that's what it appears to be.
Maybe if you have a black light , U/V light, you can hold it under and get more out of it. Maybe its him, maybe its someone else. But buy this for the rareness of the ball itself, any signature by a DEAD BALL ERA HOFer is a HUGE plus : ), but again it's the vintage rare 1913-1917 version you are buying it for.
There is not one of this version on Ebay under current or under completed auctions, nor have I seen this version in a VERY LONG TIME. Oh if you do search Ebay you will see that I just listed this, but have it priced at $600, and have 5 Watchers and 2 Offers already. Every vintage collection needs one of these, not complete without a vintage ball from the period of Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Shoeless Joe and a young Babe Ruth!
$415 Shipped (FIRM on the price, but it's a very good price)
THE GUIDE WHICH IS 2014 PRICE VALUES LISTS THIS AT $750 - $1000.
I SAY THIS IS DEFINITELY A VG-EX 4 ($750) AND ALMOST AN EX-5 ($1000), BUT NOT QUITE, IT'S A 4.............4 PLUS? : )
