Hi. I'm new here. I bought an old, signed baseball today at a women's club rummage sale. Some of the signatures on it made me spend the $2. Durocher & Koufax caught my eye; they were names that I knew; so I bought it. When checking other names & signatures on it after I got home, it appears to have names on it that all add up to the 1963 Dodgers, and I found out that they won the Series that year.
The baseball is in bad shape. Some of the signatures are too worn or faded to read. There was a price sticker on the ball, and when I pulled it off, some of the patina and a part of a signature came off with it. But there are names from the 1963 roster that are legible and match the roster. Walt Alston, Ed Roebuck, Frank Howard, Johnny Podres, Phil Ortega, and some others have legible signatures and (to me) match what their signatures should look like. Leo's signature is slightly odd; the "D" doesn't match most of his later signatures but does match his earlier signatures. And for Sandy Koufax, all of the signature looks right except for maybe the "S," but it is also so worn that it's hard to see. Any idea whether this ball might be real? Any other input? Agree with Robert, that is a ball anyone could buy at a souvenir stand at a ball game.

Dagnabbit, you mean I got conned by a bunch of old ladies?
Oh, well. Not much lost. Guess I got excited because some of the signatures are really spot-on! |

"a bunch of old ladies" is a red flag in the memorabilia game.
