I would rearrange a few assuming your list is based solely on current value.
I think a few of these players/poses like Lajoie Portrait and Eddie Collins should increase in value and ranking as the years go by. I can see the Lajoie Portrait surpass the 2 Cy Young action poses and Eddie Collins make it's way up wedged between the Christy White and Dark cap. 1. Wagner, Honus 2. Plank, Eddie 3. Cobb, Ty - Green 4. Cobb, Ty - Red 5. Cobb, Ty - Bat On Shoulder 6. Cobb, Ty - Bat Off Shoulder 7. Johnson, Walter - Portrait 8. Young, Cy - Portrait 9. Mathewson, Christy - Portrait 10. Johnson, Walter - Hands at Chest 11. Young, Cy - Glove Showing 12. Young, Cy - Bare Hand Showing 13. Speaker, Tris 14. Lajoie, Nap - Portrait 15. Mathewson, Christy - White Cap 16. Mathewson, Christy - Dark Cap 17. Lajoie, Nap – Batting 18. Lajoie, Nap - Throwing 19. Keeler, Willie – Portrait 20. Tinker, Joe – Portrait 21. Evers, Johnny - Portrait 22. Collins, Eddie 23. Brown, Mordecai - Portrait 24. Chance, Frank - Red Back 25. Evers, Johnny - Cub Shirt 26. Keeler- Bat 27. Brown, Mordecai - Cub Shirt 28. Joss, Addie - Portrait 29. Walsh, Ed 30. Baker, Home Run

I like the list. I think I'd put Waddell portrait at #30 over Baker, but I'm partial to the portraits and love some of the stories about Waddell.

This is a decent list, and I think its generally accurate as far as HOFers go. But, I think limiting your list to HOFers ignores 3 of the best/most important T206s cards -- Magie error, and O'Hara and Demmitt PB.

The Evers Cubs Shirt (Blue Sky) is easily the most valuable Cub on the list, and should probably rank somewhere around #11.

edit: I found a ranking of scarcity of back. Lenox -Brown is one thing but how closely does back rarity track demand in general? Especially since VCP combine the entire categories of Piedmont and Sweet Caporal into one?
For the Mathewsons, does it matter which back variation? If so, is there a ranking for back variations on the Portrait, White Cap, and Dark Cap? Last edited by RiceBondsMntna2Young; 12-16-2018 at 12:36 PM. |
