Priced too low?
I had an item, most likely one of a kind, listed on eBay for about a year with no offers or much interest. A friend saw it and told me it was priced too low and I was devalueing it. He suggested I take it down for a while and relist for 5 times my original price of $50. I actually relisted it for $299 and within hours I had 2 offers and ended up selling the item for $250.
Do you guys think this was a fluke or is there something to this selling strategy? I understand it wouldn't work for items that have an established value like graded cards.

And did not want to be labeled as trolls for buying it unfairly :-)
Had a friend who owned an apartment building in which he furnished the refrigerators and was changing them out due to maintenance costs. He listed the old ones as available for no cost to anyone who would pick them up. No one did. Next he advertised them for $50 each and sold them all. Also remember story of a guy who asked people at an airport for a quarter to make a phone call ( back in the days pay-phones were everywhere at airports) and offered them a dollar for it. Someone posted an original stock copy of Waylon Jennings first 45 on Brunswick for $5.00. You can bet I snapped that up.

I don't understand it, but it definitely happens. Earlier this year I had a 33 Sport King on eBay for around $2500/best offer and did not any offers for weeks. Raised the price to $3300/best offer and someone bought it within a week without even making an offer.
