Does anyone remember this T206 Wagner find? Just came across it and was first time I have heard about it. I believe this article was probably from 1991. Is this card identified in the compilation of known Wagners?

I just looked on Newspapers.com, and found more about it.
I found a story in the Oshkosh (WI) Northwestern, from May 24, 1990. It says that the boy who found it, lived in Maine. He took the card to Bob Thing, who determined it to be a reprint. Steve

Thanks Steve...I was wondering whether it was a reprint. I guess even back in 1990 they were working the T206 Wagner scam angles. Sounded too good to be true that 13 year olds could find a real one while digging for worms.

This story was carried nationwide. I've found 260 instances of the story, in dozens of newspapers all over the US, from May 22 - 30.
It was also reported that the boy "found" four cards in the can; Wagner, Evers, Bresnahan, and Plank. The "find" also occured about a month after another boy, about 30 miles from this one, also "found" a T206 Wagner wedged in a foundation. Steve

I just found where the other Wagner that was found in April 1990, about 30 miles away (in Stockton Springs, ME) from the one in the OP, was inspected by Alan Hager, and he determined it to also be a reprint.

Who knew that early 1990's Maine was such a hotbed of T206 Wagner reprint finds.

I remember the story well because I was a kid when the "find" happened. It turned out the father placed the cards in the can for the kid to find.

Given the publicity it had there is no doubt it was counted. I wonder what the true total number of Wags might be, 75? If I recall there are around 60ish accounted for, so far? I am sure someone will correct me and that is fine too.
