i know there are a lot of pre war collectors here but im asking specificly, what do you collect.
For example, do you only collect a specific set and nothing else? Or do you collect a few sets or a specific player or team. Do you want to add something to your future hunts? I collect, T205's, Babe Ruth, and random 1800's baseball items. One day i would love to add T3's to my check list.

MLB hall of famers. The goal is one of each. Must be issued while the player was an active player. And I'm not too worried about managers/executives/umpires. Doesn't necessarily have to be rookie cards or anything. If a player is known for his time with a particular team, I strongly prefer a card of him with that team. There's something weird about Willie Mays in a Mets uniform.
I know that there are people on this board who could complete my project in a weekend, but with a limited baseball card budget it keeps me busy picking up one card here and one card there. |

I mostly buy about anything. Non sports. Baseball. Boxing. Most of my purchases for the past year have been 19th century cards. Needless to say, my baseball component of these only numbers around 20 cards due to cost. About 75 boxing. About 1000 non sports. Also have quite a few t and r cards.

I collect Venezuelan Topps (mostly focusing on 1962), 1951 Bowman Red Menace, T113 Types of Nations, then anything else cheap that I like. I have a real hard time staying focused.
I'm 1 card away from completing my Venezuelan Topps 1962 set and have the non sports sets completed a few times over bc they are cheap. I've mostly been upgrading cards this year but will hopefully start really trying to complete either a Venezuelan 60 or 64 set soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Detroit Tigers team sets from major national releases.
I'm a big fan of the Detroit laundry. Finishing up Play Ball sets and will venture to a candy/caramel set from 1920's. Of course I can't ignore a good deal for T206's & 52 and 53 Topps.

I have a few different collections and occasionally just pick up items that I think are interesting.
1) Integration-related items (47 Dodgers, 46 Nashua Dodgers and Montreal Royals, early Jackie Robinson items, baseballs, programs etc. Also some Negro League items) 2) WWII-related baseball items (signed baseballs, programs, postcards) 3) Game-Used Lineup cards signed by HOF managers (although I've expanded to managers I've deemed "significant," whether due to their managing or playing careers.) For some time I was focused on US Tours in Japan and the like although I think I may end up moving those to fund items that better fit my collection. I also collected modern cards for many years, but it seems like pretty much anything I liked from that, I'd rather have something from the list above... |

1. Anything Pittsburgh related, all sports, all eras (19th Century to Present).
2. PCL - I started with a T212 back slogan run but I finished that. So, now I collect other issues/types of primarily PCL HOFers. 3. All sports from 1974-1986'ish. I like to collect my favorite players from when I was growing up, not just superstars and HOFers. I normally buy these raw in the EX+ range to store in binders. 4. My "side project" is to collect all baseball Topps All-Star Rookies (the ones with the trophy icon on them) from 1960-Present. 5. I'm not really a set collector, but I am slowly building 1956 Topps Baseball (about 50% complete) and 1957 Topps Football (about 75% complete). This sounds like alot. It took a few years, but I found it's what works for me. It's enough that if I get bored with one, I can jump to another for a while and it's not too much that I feel like I'm not making progress on anything. Oh yeah, I'll still buy a few shiny cards (Trout, Harper, Kershaw, etc.) from time to time. Yeah, I'm an addict.

My collecting has changed this summer. I sold off some of my postwar baseball and dove into prewar, particularly the T212-2 1910 Obaks and even a few D311s. They are both great cards! If I were to buy any other prewar issue right now, it would probably be some E93s or E95s.
But even all of this is on the back burner for now as I have been bitten by the 1960s AFL football bug. I am having a blast with those cards! It is all enough to keep me occupied without getting overwhelmed. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |

I'm a hopelessly undisciplined set collector, in that I collect too many sets at once that it makes completion of any unrealistic given my budget. Right now I'm working on the following:
N28 (5/10) N162 (1/8)...I know, does it really count with only one so far? T209-1 (15/16) T205 (92/208) E121 (25/174) 1934 Goudey (35/96) 1953 Bowman (89/160 and 13/64) I also collect any & all cards from the E92 family...have about 45 cards from about 12 of the 20-or-so related sets there. About halfway done with Dockmans, and making progress on E101/102. This is more of a master set / back run pursuit that will never be completed. Finally (modern alert!), I collect Topps & Bowman Chrome blue refractors of star prospect and RC cards. Have about 50 of those at the moment. Another ongoing pursuit with no possible end, since there are new cards to chase every year.

Other than the Mantle regular season issue run I put together I don't really go after anything specific. I have pre and post war cars as well as modern in my collection. I tend to focus on bigger name HOFers, and prefer rookie cards for my post war pick ups. Lately I've been interested in vintage autographed cards as well.

I am primarily a set collector. Nothing modern. I have started pretty much every regular issue hockey set. Even when I finish one, I have this nasty habit of going over them and then looking to upgrade. Any Canadian Football regular issue. One of the sets that I'll never complete is the 1962 Master set in panels. Tough, and I'll never finish as nobody is 100% sure of how many actual combinations there are. Right now I have at least one of every number in at least one panel. Non sports sets from the 60's and the late 50's. I managed to pick up an Ex-Mt 1952 Topps Mathews $407, and a VG Mays. Now I'm toying with starting that set. Currently looking for a mid grade Robinson and Campanella. If I do that, and decide to go after a Mantle, my guess is I'll take that one on. Fortunately I am more focussed professionally than I am with my hobby.

I'd consider myself a somewhat unfocused (mostly) prewar set, type and HOF collector.
Sets I'm actively working on: Diamond Stars (master), '35 Goudey 4 in 1 (master), 41 Play Ball, 48 Exhibits, 50-56 Callahan, 60 Fleer (1 card from completion), 61 Fleer, 61 Golden Press, 63 Bazooka. Sets I'm collecting all of the HOFers and significants from: T202, T205, T206, 33/34 Goudey, 38 Goudey, and just about any pre 1940 Exhibits set. As for types, I usually don't go for the crazy rare ones - mostly just sets that either I have less interest in or would be too expensive for my budget to get many, but would still like one as a type example (most strip cards, T201, T213-2, etc). I'm also collecting T205 and T206 backs, but nothing crazy (no Drum, Uzit, etc). Starting to dabble in 19th century as well. Currently have 3 N172s and a single N300. On the lookout for others, especially from the more popular sets I don't have an example from (N162, N28, etc). Would like to try for my first 19th century HOFer as well. Still need 2 more pre-war HOFer cards to have at least 1 of each (Gehrig and Plank). Last edited by sterlingfox; 08-15-2017 at 12:42 PM. |

I collect t206s almost exclusively. Not because I don't want other things, but because I don't have much of a card budget and every time I buy something else, I end up selling it to pay for a t206 I want more. I also have a couple stacks of tougher t207 backs and a handful of other 1909-1917 cards from other sets.

I collect mainly 52 Topps cards but swayed early when I joined the site and had purchased other cards along the way.
My main focus now is collecting 52 Topps, but I would also like to add some pre-war, namely a Ruth of some sort, a Gehrig, etc. I am currently in a dilemma. I have always loved the 56 Topps Mantle and I have the opportunity to purchase one for a fair price (about $600 CDN) but a part of me says spend that money on more 52's. I need to let the seller know soon, if it's not too late already, but for the life of me, I can't seem to make up my mind? ![]()

I collect Yankees mainly, from 1904 up thru current cards, but the older the better.
Also have smaller amount of cards from New York City teams in all sports, mainly older stuff, tobacco up thru early 70's. Also collect all years cards of Jewish athletes in all sports. Also started collecting pitchers who Mickey Mantle hit a home run off, got about half of them, but made the mistake of going after all the pitchers I really knew and liked, so after that I kinda lost interest in this and dont get any more. Plus living in Miami area now, I have a small collection of Miami cards in all sports. But the Yankees are about 80% of my collection and they are my true love.
