Wondering what others might suggest to be the best Cobb card in the $2-3k price range… I have always lusted after his T206 bat off shoulder and portrait cards but worry that my budget would not get he into either of those (other than possibly total beaters)
I also love the T202 with “3 Hall of Famers” with Cobb twice plus Jennings Wondering what others would consider to be a great Cobb buy at this price range? This will very likely be my one/only Cobb in my HOF collection so, like most of you, I will be picky! Or I might just wait until I can afford a dream Cobb Thanks for any suggestions! Jeff |

Others will have better non-t206 ideas but I’d like to offer my two cents that the green portrait psa 1 on eBay is a great looking card somewhat close to your range (and I think it’s by a n54 member so you can reach out directly). A little paper loss near the left border but what a card.

I like the T205 Cobbs.
Sharp looking cards and alot of variation on the backs. and auction houses also have them for auction You have to look and be patient because some people like to over price them on ebay But the last 3 sold on ebay in that range PSA 1's went for

The B-18s are still affordable if you are ok with something a little less cardlike.
Finding a really nice one might take some time, but easily fits that budget. A silk that is lower grade but looks good might just be doable. |

T205 prices have been soaring of late. I wouldn’t put in affordable category however they are still under priced for rarity and being considered an early Cobb issue. With that being said, any notebook cover or supplement of Cobb is the best affordable item of his early years. Also, newspapers like Police Gazette, Sheet music and magazines are great as well.

Its depends on what grade/eye appeal level you are looking for.
My vote is the e90-1. It's probably a little lower in price than the t205. But still unlikely to find higher than a grade 2 for under 3k. The last sold in your price range was a PSA 2 at heritage in August for $2700 range. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk Last edited by Jcosta19; 10-29-2021 at 02:58 PM. |

Don't over think it and get a 206. A nice bat off or on can be had for around 3k. If you pay more at least you got the card you desired. Plus it's value will surely increase.
If your budgeting t201's are a fairly inexpensive way to get Cobb & Crawford together. Lot nicer card then cut strip cards at the same price. Sent from my SM-A716U1 using Tapatalk |

I basically agree with the 'stache
If you buy a card that's too raggedy and you really don't like it, you'll eventually replace it... and then you join that dreaded club of those who 'bought a card twice so they could have it once'. I've done that a few times, 'tis painful. |

If you like the T 206, as many have suggested, take a look at the M 116. Both portraits are really nice but the blue background really pops in my opinion. Thinking a nice presenting example could be found in your price range.

Also worth at least considering caramel cards - They’re typically less common than Tcards without the significant price hike - most popular (available?) of these is the E95 but other series worth checking out as well. However, If I was only going to own a single Cobb personally, I’d pick bat off T206 - and only Bc the visual appeal is stunning.

Some really great advice here, thx.
I am leaning toward sticking to my own ultimate Cobb (bat on or portrait) but I do love the M116 too. I’m mot usually a “back of the card” kind of collector, but I have always loved back of the M116 sporting life ads - so hokey and so literal! “If you want them, see full list in this week’s issue of Sporting Life” Love it! Again, thx for the advice. |

In my opinion, if you are only going to own one Cobb, I would try to get the best looking t206 portrait (red or green), because that’s the most iconic. A consolation could be the M116 sporting life, bc same portrait picture (blue background better but more expensive). Otherwise, I would go for a 1907 Dietsche Batting Post Card. It’s the most affordable version of his (generally) earliest pieces
I just saw you newest post. Great! T206 bat off is a great card and it’s key your wife is on board! Perhaps you can get a t213 to make it cheaper (same exact picture/pose but later year, and not t206). Last edited by Rhotchkiss; 10-30-2021 at 08:34 AM. |

I just picked up the playing day cobb for $200. It depends what you desire? Investment potential? Card you like the best esthetically?
I'd recommend an undervalued caramel cobb like e93/e95/e98...much rarer than any t206. Or...an iconic mainstream cobb like a red/green t206...not so affordable anymore? To me...a "rookie" dietsche postcard...most likely batting would be the smart buy as compared to T206 prices? But I've always tended towards rarity over the more common sets myself. |
