Would it possible to leave the prices present after a card gets sold? It would help evaluate current prices.
Thanks. |

This was discussed not long ago on a BST thread about a Green Cobb. I agree with you.

Oh boy here we go. Lol
I'm also in favor of leaving original asking prices (final selling $ up to seller). Im also in favor of deleting if requested by buyer. (But in all my transactions that has never happened)

I support prices being left. Anyone who looks at an ad will know the asking price so they would know roughly what someone paid. It would be terrific to be able to retrieve that data weeks or months later.

I have had people want to buy cards that say sold (when I left the price), remove the price and it hasn't happened.

I've asked sellers what a card has sold for after the price has been removed when I was interested in the sale price and have never had an issue with the seller letting me know the final price. Not saying I won't run into a seller who doesn't want to share the price, but I haven't yet. When I ask I always say that I understand if he can't tell me the price because the buyer wants it to be private, but never had an issue.

I sold a couple of things on BST recently and in each case I accepted a slightly lower counteroffer. If I left the posted prices it wouldn't accurately reflect what the items sold for.

I am all for keeping the asking price, if the price is put on a public forum and in our hobby its very common to see what cards sell for, the new buyer still has the advantage of any potential buyer later on only knowing the asking price...which can be far far more than what the card went for, but still better than knowing zero..
there are some people on net54 that list their cards for months and months and months and everyone knows the card wont sell for anything close to what they are asking. but there are others that are closer etc Plus its fun to see what people were asking for cards like rookie mantles etc as the years go by on net54.. Yes, I put sold right next to the price. I still have had twice where people sent messages to purchase cards.

This happens sometimes on the watch forums as well. Buyer places “sold” adjacent to the price but still receives inquires. Maybe a psychological thing where the buyer visually skips over the “sold” remark.

Or they're covering their bases in hopes the deal fell through. Would think that's a 1 in 100

For me the watch forums were not a great place to sell. Tons of really lowball offers; or people demanding more and more pictures.

I've been "collecting" watches for more than 10 years and you will never get more Type A people in a room. People in the watch sales forum are big bargain hunters. If you know the general market value of the watch it will sell even after ignoring all the low ball offers. |
