Anyone see the Plank on ebay? PSA 1 asking $59k or best offer, put in an offer for 35k but automatic decline :-) it was worth a shot although I'd be eating cup a noodles and pork in beans for the next 5 years - lol.

That card won't be around long. It is a once in a life time purchase. Anyone who offers $55 - $56k will probably be accepted.

I would bet he would sell it for 50K or maybe even less. The card sold for 24K in 2015. The last PSA 1 sold for 36.5K in 2016. The card has been hot lately and is moving up in price, so offering less than the last sale should be an auto decline. If you really want it, try 40k and see what happens. Planks do pop up pretty regularly, but most are better than 1. There are only 13 out of 72 graded by PSA, only 3 of 31 on SGC.

The creasing on that Plank is rough in my opinion. If one is willing to spend $50k+, I would wait for a better example and spend the extra $10k not to look at creasing across the face.
I once had a 48 Leaf Paige PSA 4. I paid $17k+ for it. The registration on it was so bad it made me dizzy and I hated looking at it. I sold it (actually traded it) and resigned that if I am going to spend serious $$ on a card, i better love looking at it. This has led me to pay-up for prettier examples of big time cards. I don’t regret a’one. Meanwhile, you want a nice Plank, the SGC 40 in Heritage is gorgeous (it’s not mine). I would rather own that for $80k+, than the creased up PSA 1 on eBay for $50k (of course this all assumes the cash able to buy a Plank...). All that said, a t206 Plank is a beast of a card and the one on eBay is thus, by definition, a beast of a card. Whoever ends up owning it will be a lucky dude Last edited by Rhotchkiss; 08-06-2018 at 08:00 PM. |

Yes, I already own one, and I think it is nicer than the SGC 40 at Heritage, but we are splitting hairs - they are both great looking.
Sean, I do not think I will be the winner of that Plank - I have my eyes on another (hopefully not as expensive) prize. How are you doing? Its been a while. I hope all is well. And, when are you going to post your next acquisition -- you have been on hiatus my friend! |
