Default Wtb - 1973 opc 81a

I am looking to buy a 1973 O-Pee-Chee 81A Cubs coaches with trees in background - not the orange background.
Thanks.

Did OPC print both versions that year, as their Topps counterparts did?

Maybe check out COMC. They have the card you're looking for listed there.

Spelling "Yastrzemski" correctly without needing to look it up since the 1980s.

I presume they did. The only guide I have just says "same as 73 Topps". Thanks, I will check out COMC.

I just checked COMC with no luck. They have the orange background like every place else I have checked. Maybe O-Pee-Chee did not do the varations??? I have asked one of the O-Pee-Chee guys on this site but no answer.

Wait, now I'm confused. Am I missing something?? The only ones I see at COMC are the 'natural background' versions. Here's one...

The ONLY variations that I am aware of OPC cards between 1965 and 1985 are two 1971 Pirates cards that have Pirates in red or yellow, Jackie Hernandez and a Rookie Stars (343?). If anyone knows of other variations please show them. ETA, it's the #27 Pirates Rookie Stars card.

I don't collect OPC cards, but I think Cliff is right on the mark. It seems that PSA just sorta took the known variations of the Topps sets and listed them in the OPC sets. Perhaps just in the early days of the company? I remember seeing a listing for a 1967 OPC #128 Ed Spiezio "most of SPIE missing" card on their site some time ago, and I knew there was no way in heck the set had that very same printing anomaly.

You are not confused - this one is sometimes (as I did) referred to as the 'Orange background". Thanks.

Cliff, thank you. You came to my rescue again and I appreciate it. I will delete this from my "want" list. Still have the 74 Deckle Hooten white on it though.

I know this horse's carcass has been pounded harder than Neil Peart's drum kit after a 3 hour solo, but things obviously need to be clarified.

Here's the Topps 'orange' background...

Here's the Topps 'natural' or 'trees in background' version...

And depending on how crazy into variations you wanna get, here's the Topps 'pink' background (it could be argued that this one is simply the result of the color balance and is not truly a different version of the card)...

I appreciate this as I haven't looked at my 73's in years. Now I have to go and get the "orange" background as I discovered I have the "pink" background. That way I will have all the bases (or backgrounds) covered. Thanks.
