Hi, if there is string of messages from some point in the past....where members voted on the best sets from the 1960s, please let me know. Otherwise, what do members feel the best sets are (say top 5 according to card design, players, value, etc.).

Whoops, just saw that someone else started a poll of all Topps sets. So, you can scratch my thread unless someone wants to offer their thoughts on just the 1960s. Sorry for the redundancy

Just the 60’s:
1966 - My favorite, though a challenge to complete. Love the team stripe banner and salmon backs. The Mays card is my favorite of the 60’s 1967 - Great clean fronts, good photography, and a nice clean back to match 1962 - I’m a sucker for wood borders 1969 - Great clean design again, like the 67’s, but a few too many capless portraits and recycled photos (more than the normal handful) 1965 - Love the pennant banner! 1964 - Bonus points for the photos that break over the top border 1963 - Middle of the road set, little to dislike but nothing that catches the eye especially. The multi-rookie cards are especially ugly, though, even by vintage Topps standards 1968 - Actually sort of like the burlap. Really love the vertical backs 1960 - Not as big of a fan of horizontal fronts usually. Love the back design though. Like the rookie design too 1961 - love the design, but the photos are among the weakest ever used. All the capless shots and airbrushing. Killerebrew especially deserves a decent card. The All Star design and shots are great. |

There have been vote for your favorite sets of the 50s,60s and 70s threads in here, but people come and go and a new poll never harms anyone. Here are two prior threads. In looking for old 54 threads I find it easier to use google and type in net54baseball and then the topic you are looking for, than using this site's search function. It works but takes longer

1960–I like that design the best. The colors and the photography work really well together, and the horizontal layout was a new idea.
1967- The photography is good, but what puts it over for me is that was the year of the Impossible Dream Red Sox. 1964, 1963 and 1961 get honorable mentions. They didn’t do anything wrong, but didn’t hit it out of the park either.

The horizontal design may have been "new" for the 60s but was old news from the 50s
![]() As a Cardinals fan I agree 1967 was a good year for more than card design. ;-> Last edited by ALR-bishop; 05-09-2018 at 03:08 PM. |

1965 is my favorite. It has the best photography overall. Honorable mentions to 1967 and 1963. The rest are pretty weak in my opinion.

#1 65 - I started collecting in ‘80 and 65 reminds me of 80 (or the other way around. Love the blue backs
#2 63 - I really like the two pictures #3 62 - this one has grown on me #4 67 - I used to like this one better. It bores me now. Was a pain to put together with high numbers #5 60 - I used to like this one until I started getting the real horizontal sets of 55 and 56. It is just ok now #6 61 - used to hate it. It has grown on me. Reminds me of a power point slide #7 66 - I think the backs are ugly and the fronts are meh - similar to ‘67 high numbers are a pain. #8 69 - Better than 68 but not much. Many of the same poses #9 68 - my first set collected from the 60s. Ugly burlap sacks #10 64 - I think this is an ugly set.
