It can be owned or not, I guess. This is my only one. Kind of an outlier in the current collection. You can faintly see "Giants" and "Jos Hall" in the lower part of the photo...It's hard to go wrong with 6 HOF'ers on 1 card.

My current favorite. I was fortunate enough to grab this last year from LOTG.

Not really what I collect, but loved this image as soon as I saw it and had to get it. Believed to be Fred Rehse who played a whole 2 games for the Millers in 1888 before disappear into obscurity.

This is an imperial cabinet of the 1892 Los Angeles Seraphs. This team was Los Angeles' first entry into the California League and could be considered the pioneer of Los Angeles baseball.

I have always liked the N173 Old Judge cabinet cards and Delahanty was my favorite player from the era.

Crazy that he was just a rookie at this point. Have to wonder why anyone would have ordered him in 1888/89.

It's also the head shot used of Anson for the N172 Anson in uniform, which was then placed atop the body of the player sitting in front of him, with arms crossed, to finish the card.

I forget who that player is, but Jay can tell us.

I have the full Harpers Weekly that lists the name, I’ll look a bit later. They did the same to this cabinet to add McCormick and took out 2 people that is another version of this cabinet. They were not that good of players I guess.

Hi Barry! The Old Judge book on page 94 tells us that it was Abner Dalrymple and even highlights the two body sections that were used (on a trade card I got from you probably 20+ years ago). Come to think of it, you were involved in the AIU also.
BTW, correct me if I am wrong but the image we are discussing is a just a photograph, not a cabinet.

I've only got one 19th century cabinet, so it is an easy call from my PC. But, it has it all: mustaches, a catcher's mask and chest protector, ring bats, gloves, a pug, a ghost on a bench, ties, pillbox hats, a train, dapper managers, and a factory belching smoke in the window reflection.

All are GREAT, but I have to lean to Bryan .... It does have it ALL !!!!

Probably easy to say who the catcher was (with mask, of course ). But, I would also assume the other fellow in front row, with ball in hand was the pitcher, and the intense looking guy on left was the best hitter. That is the way they indicated these things back then, I think

It's Dalrymple, thank you. Of course I could have looked it up in your book, but l didn't.

I remember the day well I brokered the Anson in Uniform, and with regard to that Chicago team photo, it had a very irregular and unusual border, kind of like the crust of an apple pie. Am I right about that?

Okay, I see the cabinet also pictured on page 94. And it does have that irregular border.

Just one favorite cabinet? Isn't that like asking which is your favorite child?

I'm kind of fond of these three. I like the 1889 Columbus Solon team cabinet because of the odd presentation. I like the 1888 Deacon White cabinet because of the scarcity of the subject and the odd pose. And I like the 1888 Philadelphia Athletic team cabinet because it contains Gus Weyhing, with whose nephew I was friendly.

Saw this Chickering Imperial cabinet in glass case Boston Library.
First World Series 1903 Pittsburg vs Boston
Cy Young & Wagner among others.
Excuse the glass glare.

Here is a very early cabinet (September 18, 1866) from the Brooklyn Excelsiors southern tour's first game against the Washington Nationals. Both teams are pictured, along with Henry Chadwick and National's team president Arthur Gorman (later a senator from Maryland and a member of the Mills Commission). The star of the Excellsiors was Joe Leggett. I have also included images of the back of the cabinet (someone in error changed the original date to 1870), a key to identifying the people, and a second known skinned copy in a scrapbook in the the NYPL collection.

These are both from Portland Maine. I have a number of relatives that played semi pro ball for Portland Area teams. The team picture is not mine but the Colorized portrait is both from 1891.

Not 19th Century....but, vey close.

I acquired this gem at the Cooperstown HOF weekend Show in 1992. I was set-up at this Show, and a "walk-in"
brought it to my table. He asked me what it was worth and offered to trade it to me for T206 cards he needed to
complete his set.
I was thrilled to get this piece because of the significance of 1904. I'm sure that most of you know that there was
NO World Series played in the Majors that year. John McGraw (and Brush and Pulliam) refused to play the Boston
(A. L. Champions).
