My friend Russ recommended I join this forum since I have gotten back into collecting. I am putting together a World Series MVP collection that will consist of each MVP's rookie card, a card from their WS MVP year and a periodical or some type of write up from the series in a binder for daily display in my home.
Glad to be here and look forward to interacting with you all. |

Welcome to the forum, Anthony, and welcome back to collecting!
Sounds like a cool collecting focus: WS MVPs. Good luck. Looking at the list, I was surprised to see that Mantle, with all of his post season accomplishments, never won a WS MVP. It was also interesting to note that the award is now officially called the Willie Mays World Series MVP award. This will be a fun one to add as well (such a cool card): ![]() |

Thanks!
It's funny you mention Mantle, Russ and I just had a conversation about how he never won a WS MVP. I was planning on prefacing the display with a Jackie Robinson tribute and now methinks I will include Mays tribute as well... Last edited by Anthony Clay Chason; 11-30-2017 at 01:56 PM. |

Nice focus. If you ever want to collect before they started awarding World Series MVP's in 1955 (thus further down the vintage collecting road), you could always figure out who you would have picked for the World Series MVP from 1903 to 1954, or what others have thought would have been the MVP.
Either way, good luck! Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 11-30-2017 at 02:49 PM. |

Nice. I'd have to look at a list to refresh my memory, but it should be a nice collection of superstars and Joe Schmoes.
I think it is pretty cool that given a short series, even up to the full seven games, that any superstar can stumble and a .200 hitting middle infielder can capture a MVP with a couple of well-timed hits and good defense. Now you've got me googling for a list. Good luck. OK - looked up the list. Interesting that out of 58 different winners, only 14 are in the HOF. Less than 25%.

Welcome to the fray, Anthony. If I can ever help with anything board related just PM me. Good luck in the hunt and don't miss the postwar sections too. Each icon above has section(s) under it. Under the community tab there is a place to show your cards too.
