What you think of these items on eBay? Not the cards themselves, but still 100+year-old publications that often have the SL cabinet card photos on the cover. I just got the one below with a Chickering cabinet photo of Sullivan from 1899. I'm kind of surprised these are often only going for $50 or so.
thoughts?

It's Josh Evan's of Lelands sister.
I really liked the one with the 1901 Matty (looked like his W600 rookie) but wasn't willing to go $1,000 on it, but someone did as it sold ![]() |

Picked up a 1905 Detroit Tiger team with Cobb in REA. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Actually, for $600 I have a 1905 Cobb - very cool IMHO.

I love these Sporting Life Papers with Team Photo's on the Front! Also, I like the Cooperstown/HOF heritage aspect to them. (They have been at the HOF locked away for decades until now being offered to public) Sporting Life published the Champion teams each year for Southern, American & Nat'l Leagues. I am not sure other Leagues were featured on the Front of Sporting Life Papers, but do know other leagues were featured on the w601 sporting life team composite, you could mail in for...
Great pieces, and yes the prices are very low inho. Very few survived in good shape, and the photo's of the teams are quite attractive. Great for display... Here is one I picked up of the 1902 Nashville Champion Southern League team. Ed Abbaticchio was their ringer...

Super cool, super fragile, and very under priced! Sporting Life put out many items from around the turn of the century and how can you not own one of these papers?!?! Everyone should get at least one of these papers which has your favorite player or team on it and stick it in the back of your closet!

What's a good way to store these? I'm worried about the fragility. Do any third party authenticators have good holders for them?

Maybe a very good/experienced frame shop could do an archrival mount?

I keep mine in a cardboard sandwich. Just get a the right size box or thick cardboard envelope and keep them in there. The way Andrea (Josh Evans Sister) ships them out, is a perfect way to keep them. Did anyone see the really nice Police Gazette Cobb that went off last night on EBay? My snipe bid wasn't high enough and congrats who won it.

Great items. Had a few when I had a few W600's but the papers are often VERY brittle. Oversized toploaders are cool but don't expect to turn the pages very often if at ever.....

Don't use common cardboard. Go to a framming shop and ask for some archival acid free mat board.

For storing I like the super large top loaders too. But getting them in and out can be tricky as, has been stated, they are usually brittle and easily damaged.

These work great for my collection of Sporting Life Magazines. Yes, their brittle, but surprisingly resilient. I have had mine in these for a few years... Display and work great!

I love these. I agree they are undervalued. They have tons of info and great pics. They can be very fragile though.
Here are my two favorites, my apologies for the poor pics. ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
