Had a win win today at an estate sale. My wife was excited I bought her this chest ( no bad jokes please) and to my surprise this is what I found when I opened it up. Any suggestions on how to remove the cards? I believe I can take the paper out with the cards still attached. Are there any of these that shouldn't be soaked? Any other ideas from the crew?

Yes, cards from that era can be soaked. But I'd question removing them. They look pretty great as an "Easter Egg" and would only be worth about $100 off the lid. I'd leave them intact and have a great story to tell to neighbors and friends and it will help the trunk resale value when you go to sell.
Looks like about 6 T205s and 2 T206s. Now if one of those was Cobb or something. Then yes, it would have to come out. Who are all the players and the condition they display as? Picture is too small for me to make them out.

I agree. If you're going to use the trunk, maybe get a piece of plexiglass cut to fit over the bottom and protect the cards.

So the question id ask myself is if i removed them how would the backs look? If one of the t205's has a hindu or drum back now your talkin 1500-2500 Based on condition.
Id remove it, very carefully

Not likely, but certainly possible. I guess the way to look at is, if you get them off and the backs are common and/or trashed, you can always just glue the cards back where you found them and you'll be right back where you started. Cool find!

You have 2 T205s of Jimmy Collins, a HOFer worth around $100 each I n decent condition but probably less here. The T205 McAllister would be worth a bit of a premium over a common, but not as much as Collins. Neither of those come with any of the rare backs, FYI. Donlin is the only intact T206, a common. You've also got a bunch of T68 Indian Life in the 60s and a T59 Flag, worth maybe a couple of bucks apiece. I'd be inclined to keep it as is, but if you did try to soak the cards off, most of the value would come from the Collinses.

Oh yeah, "Puppy Stew". That was my first T68 many years ago, and still probably my favorite.

I would say to go play the lottery, but you basically just did. Way to "scratch & reveal" an unlikely jackpot! And a hobby first to boot.

Congrats. If you don't keep it you should consider auctioning it. That way you might get more than you think. Those T206 guys are kind of crazy.

A one card shot at an unconfirmed BL460! You had a better chance at getting hit by lightning. Congratulations.

But then it also means you should remove the rest of the cards. If there was one, there might be more.
