Hi,
I'm doing some casual research on PSA Graded T206 sets. What have been the most difficult high graded (for purposes of my analysis, high grade is considered to be PSA 5 or higher) cards to locate, irrespective of backs? I'm looking to get a sense of collectors' experience rather than simply looking at the population reports. Thanks. |

This could/should be on the main board, for more eyes to see. Interesting question.

I've always found the Donlin fielding to be very difficult in high grade.

Tinker portrait. In the top 5 for sure.

Rube Manning (Pitching)... 0 PSA 7's, only 2 PSA 8's and none higher.....Impossible card in high grade, mid grades (5's) may be a tad different. If you're doing a set in high grades, PSA 6.5 and higher, this card is the toughest card IMO...

That is a great question I am putting together a PSA 5 set sitting at 380 cards right now. The 2 cards I have noticed that rarely come up for sell in PSA 5 or higher are the Kid Elberfeld NY Portrait and the Southern Leaguer Ed Foster. I would be interested in others opinion. Thanks Daryl

Ames (Hands At Chest) in a 5 and up is tough.

When I was putting together my set, I found that some of the Southern Leaguers (Foster, Mullaney and a few others) and some of the 150 only group (Ames hands at chest, Donlin Fielding, and Doyle Throwing) were the most difficult to come across in PSA 5 or higher (excluding Demmitt and O'Hara - I don't even think about the Big 4).
The Elberfeld NY Portrait was a bit more difficult than the Elberfeld Washington Portrait. Last edited by mansco; 09-03-2017 at 06:28 PM. |

The O'Hara StL was by far the toughest card for me. The Southern Leagers, as someone else said, especially Roy Elam. Carl Lundgren Chicago and Wildfire Schulte front view. I want to say Joe Doyle, but I am not sure if that was because Larry Fritsch was hoarding them.

Doc Adkins, Joe Doyle, Wildfire Schulte front. Those are the lowest pops for PSA 6 and higher I believe.
The Adkins is tough from what I have seen.....the other 2 are kind of known toughies. Last edited by Thromdog; 09-04-2017 at 10:39 AM. |
