| What did I buy? A vintage bottle bat?

Picked up this bat recently. 35 1/2 inches long with no markings. Is this a Heine Groh-style bottle bat? The knob is enormous.

It seems that nobody in the major leagues has used those bats since the war. Have they been banned?

There is a better than not chance that what you have is not a baseball bat. Especially with that style of knob. Could have been a table leg, butter churn, or part of a piece of farm equipment (they sometimes made removable wooden handles for such things). Can you post images of either end? |
