On June 1, 1967 the Beatles released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. While there have been some varied opinions on the album, I believe it is indeed the greatest rock album ever made. I was finishing my sophomore year of high school when it came out, so it put me at the right age to embrace it.
Hope there are others who love it as much as I do. |

It also is one of my absolute fave albums. I have listened to it hundreds if not thousands of times. I am listening to it now!! One of the best albums of all time. They don't get better they only get different.

Glad you're a fan...and thanks for the link last week to the CSN & Y album. I played the whole thing on my new Bose mini speaker (and my 7000th post).

I'm not going to argue with either of you. I couldn't narrow down my top 70s albums to a definite top 10 for me.
can't go wrong here though...https://youtu.be/XIiu0JI3I5g?list=PL...j2Qj5wbqFlVTTR |

I'm no music connoisseur, I don't really even listen to Rock. But when I think "Rock", the Beatles don't come to mind. I classify them in some radio-friendly "Pop" genre. A lot of people like their music, so I'm not bashing the Beatles, I just don't understand the "Rock" label. I know next to nothing about any Classic Rock, but when I think Classic Rock, I think Hendrix and The Stones and AC/DC and maybe Queen etc.
Am I way off base here? Feel free to rip me a new one while educating me at the same time ![]() |

Rob- In the early 1960's, before the Beatles became so incredibly famous, they were playing rock exclusively. As the music began to change around 1965, they led the way in inventing and reinventing what popular music sounded like. It became harder to put a label on that new sound. They could play rock if they wanted, but they could do so much more. I'm guessing you didn't grow up during the 60's.

Hearing loss is the unintended consequence of rock.
Being able to read the forum beats listening to it anyhow. Don't tell me I'm crazy. I won't hear you. ![]()

For those of you posting about CSN&Y, you may want to try David Crosby album If I Only Could Remember My Name.
Great stuff! Even more fun, look at the album credits names........

Hi Barry
Correct me if I'm wrong....it was good ole American 1950's Rock-n-Roll ....especially Buddy Holly and the Crickets....that originally inspired The Beatles ? TED Z . |

And don't forget Chuck Berry and Elvis. John Lennon is quoted as saying "before Elvis there was nothing" or something pretty close to that.
